my 8800 Ultra is a factry OCd one at 650mhz and ive had it running 710 with no volt mod on water

hes claiming a 693mhz core.

that can be done on a stock 8800 ultra again without upping the volts.

Was thinking the same thing. Mine is 612/1080 at stock, and clocks very easy to 710/1140 with ATI tool. This bit of wire seems like a complete waste of time and money to me. Still the world is full of idiots that are easily parted with their hard earned.

Its bacially a SMD Grabber with a Resistor solder onto it then Heatshrunk, the Fork connection is to Earth it and hold it in place.

7045360.gif

They come in various size and forms and can grab the smallest of legs on a SMD and hold them really tight

If the people paying $100+ for one actually knew the cost of the 'special' tip they'd be gutted.

I have a couple somewhere, if I get a minute I'll make one for a laugh.

8800 GT's smoking a GTX 280 ?

I dont really believe it, since when has volt modding been that good?

it shows 150-200% increase for 8800 GT SLi.. something stinks, clock speeds cant be turned up 50% of what they already are even on a chiller

Why not? Normal 8800GT's in SLI match or even sometimes beat a GTX 280? Overclocked ones will smash it.

As for clock speeds he's claiming 33% increase on the 8800GT. Perfectly reasonable since I used to run my 8800GT under water at 770Mhz. And that was without a volt mod.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: One of the forum moderators edited my original post and entered the text in yellow below, with full knowledge that I had the entire thread backed up - this person's integrity is certifiably solid for this, and I thank you for conducting yourself in such an honorable manner. For the record - I want to make absolutely clear - in no uncertain terms - that there was absolutely no intent of any kind whatsoever to advertise any products of any kind in these forums. The sole purpose of posting here was to respond directly to a few of the misrepresentative and slanderous statements that were made here by a misinformed few - nothing more. In fact, I DIRECTLY pre-addressed the issue of advertising in the third paragraph of my post (as contained below). In addition, I stated that I was even indifferent to the entire thread being locked down after I had my chance to respond. I further encouraged that detailed discussion about the products NOT occur here, and even provided a link to an appropriate location outside of these forums to discuss these matters in detail if so desired. I believed that I had gone to great lengths to ensure that the advertising policies of this forum were being upholded and respected. That said, I have gone through the original post extremely carefully, and removed any indirect, or otherwise purely incidental verbage that would link me in any way to any particular product. I will also state EXPLICITLY, that I have no relation to the original poster; that in no way was this persons post sanctioned; and to my knowledge I have never spoken or dealt with this person under this or any other alias in my entire life. This thread was simply located after it had been indexed by Google. To the moderator(s) reading this, I did not invite this thread upon this forum, and as such I would respectfully request one of the following: 1) In a diplomatic & democratic fashion, allow this thread to settle down naturally until all parties have had their chance to express themselves to their full & complete satisfaction. 2) Allow me to make the closing statement and then permanently lock down the thread - both because everyone else deeply involved had the chance to open, along with the over-riding fact that it is centered around me. 3) Delete the ENTIRE thread in it's fullness, and obliterate ALL manner of it's existence.

I believe these options to be equitible, far-reaching and self-evidently fair in nature for all parties involved. Should however these resolutions be blatently ignored, or otherwise disrespected in any manner by those in a position of power, understand that this will carry with it far-reaching consequences including an equal measure of public discreditation, and a permanent severance of any and all alliances of commerce - both present and future - with both myself and my business partners. I take dishonor very seriously, and it will be dealt with accordingly.

Understand that it is NOT my desire to discuss my products in a private forum such as this - I have made this publicly clear in several forums on the net already. Equally understand that I will NOT turn my back on slander or reckless discredition - and will use every avenue in my arsenal to ensure that the offenders are strung up at high-noon in the streets of the courts of public opinion - make no mistake.

Hey folks... :)

First off, I want to thank Overclockers UK and all of the constructive members in it's forums. A lot of traffic flows through here, and it's a great resource for cutting-edge overclocking hardware and related information.

I am just responding to threads at this point where some clarification is needed, so that new visitors do not get fed any misinformation. Overall, the majority of people in this thread got the general concept, and those familiar with volt-modding have typically understood the feasibility of the device after perusing the available photos on the net.

That said, out of respect for the advertising policies of most private forums, I will not be getting into any detailed discussions of the product here, nor will any photos be posted as they have brand names and slogans all over them. However, full, open discussion about the products is available in the public, user-to-user Nvidia SLI Zone / Industry News forums. Also, when the website goes live, you will be able to get all the latest information, news and photos direct from the source. Major news announcements may also be posted in the XS or TPU news forums to keep the the enthusiasts in the loop.

As explained at XS, I have been volt-modding for many years, and have sold many, many hard-modded cards on ebay with ON/OFF DIP switches, etc. International buyers would regularly pay $69-$75 for shipping ALONE for a volt-modded card. I do not profit on shipping, and even at those rates I usually took a small loss. I was trying to figure out how I could separate the mod from the card so that people could get the same results without having to buy a card directly from me. I am absolutely THRILLED that I can now get the mod to my customers for less than the shipping cost ALONE. Also, the shipping cost for the mod now is just a few dollars WORLDWIDE. Furthermore, since the mod is removable and gets packaged in a retail hard case, the buyer can resell the item and recover costs when upgrading to a new video card. It will also increase the resale value of their card if the kit is bundled with it, thereby minimizing the net outlay.

The first kits ever made were the in-line, trim-pot versions which were used to master the voltages of each individual cards to 3 decimal places. There are several versions at the moment (intended for experienced volt-modders only, with proper knowledge and testing equipment), and they will be released once the fixed mods for the core products are completed. These kits are extremely convenient as they can be used on MULTIPLE cards without having to switch kits. They install and remove in seconds as well, and make it super-easy to test cards with speed and efficiency. Also, adapter/spacer kits will being investigated as well for new cards as they become available.

Though the product line is currently exclusive to Nvidia cards, kits are currently undergoing testing for ATI cards as well. There are also plans to get review samples out to some major review sites once all the marketing materials are fully completed for each model.

To directly address a few comments in this thread...

As stated in the Nvidia forums,
"That said, I will reiterate once again - in no uncertain terms - that the device installs both EASILY and SECURELY, and it will not fall off or move around.” You can spin the card on the tip of your finger like a basketball and it still won’t come loose.” In fact, tightening the screw is even optional. Simply put, the device is going NOWHERE once installed. Furthermore, the device operates in 'safe zones', so even if it WERE to be touching neighboring resistors nothing bad would happen as a result. Also, it remains grounded at all times. A dummy-proof install guide ensures a fast and smooth install process – to date, there has not been a single question or request for clarification about the install process – not one. It is that straight-forward."
Also, not sure if you missed it 'orphanboy', but the product is currently undergoing PATENT, and as such, certain details and photos are purposefully omitted. That said, those that are very familiar with overclocking (like the many posters in this thread such as 'Greebo'), understand how to interpret the GPU-Z screenshots in relation to the benches. But not to worry, hi-res photos of the other areas, along with a Flash 'Quick Install' video guide are also planned, so that everything is understood upon initial exposure regardless of level of experience.

As for the other two comments, you cannot compare the o/c clocks of a liquid-cooled card to a stock one. This is pretty fundamental actually, and the 'idiots' as you referred to them (which is what you are effectively calling many posters in this thread), already understand this, so I am not really sure where that leaves you. Furthermore, ATI Tool alone will NOT ensure a 100% stable card. Also, core clock is just one aspect - you are forgetting about shader clock - this is the most voltage-hungry clock of them all. You will not get even get REMOTELY close to 1840MHz shader stable at stock voltage on H2O...let alone with stock cooler at stock voltage. Also, no cherry-picking was involved when selecting the cards for testing. It is no secret that some perform better than others. I wanted a typical cross section so that the integrity of the results would be on par with customer expectations.

Irrespective of the product, possibly the most poorly constructed ebay advert in history.
"Hmm - we've got a product that looks like some wire and plastic, is quite small, and makes graphics cards go faster. How can we sell it?"
"Easy sir. We'll give it a stupid name, add an X to our company name, and put some pictures of semi naked girls and some fast cars near to some pictures of our wire."
"Will that work?"
"Trust me, you can put some details at the bottom of the web page, loosely based on facts, and include more spelling and composition errors than you can wave a stick at, and it will still sell".
"I'm still not sure..."
"Here's a picture of a Porsche with a topless girl in a short skirt next to it"
"Where do I sign?"
Sometimes you see something so bad you either laugh or cry a little bit inside. Sometimes however you just feel absolutely nothing...

How does one respond to someone like this other than to say that, it takes an extraordinary amount of knowledge just to realize the extent of your ignorance. The name is indeed suiting though, seeing that he doesn't have the first clue about marketing dynamics, let alone overclocking. Notice how the core data including all of the GPU-Z screenshots and benchmarks (which 'Greebo' and others knew how to properly interpret), were clearly a foreign language to him as they go unmentioned. It follows then, that he lacks the capacity to understand that the "X" in the name is a general acronym for 'Custom' or 'Mods'/'Mod'/'Modding'/'Modded', which is something the mainstream industry deduced fairly quickly. Then there is the mention of 'facts', which he tries to pretend he understands, but has already - to the point of extreme (blind) embarrassment - proven that he's absolutely clueless about. Beginning with his first line and ending with his last, the A.D.D. finally takes its toll when he fails to recognize that the marketing campaign (or "advert" as he refers to it) has actually been the most successful launch ever, and was patterned after the extremely successful '------ --' auctions, which are still pulling in as much as $115-$165 for the elite performers. If that's not enough, even though the seller has been indicating that a lot of time has gone into getting the first few rounds of listings up, and that the listing is going to be updated greatly in the weeks and months to come, he then tries to play 'English teacher', and manages to commit six (6) grammatical errors of his own in the short blurb of drivel he spews out... Sometimes the only way to deal with kids like this is to make an example out of them and then just ignore them...

Anyways, I have the utmost respect for this forum and for the rest of the contributors to this thread. That said, with over 1,700 unique visits already, this type of arrogant slander needed to be firmly dealt with as I am sure the rest of you can understand - including moderators. Though I am sure it is not the case with this forum, should this poster be in bed with any moderator, a complete HTML record of the thread has been saved, and will be reposted and reindexed in the HOS. I can understand if the thread gets locked after this post however, and this is completely fine with me (either way), but I should be allowed to duly respond to it. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am definitely not one to yank my own chain...however, if my valued customers are slandered in this regard, I have both the right and the duty to defend their honor...and I will do so with boldness every time - regardless of consequence. Period.

Ok now happy talk. :) ATI is in the house, and kits are currently being investigated for the 4870 series, to be followed by the 4850!

Thanks OcUK, and see you on the O/C! -v

Hi and welcome to the forum טּøøđøø. Great post and I look forward to seeing the 4870 kit as soon as possible :).

Ditto to that. Let us know on here as soon as the 4870 kit is available. I'm under water and all that is lacking is some voltage to my 4870

excellent first post. and I too am looking forward to the ATI series vmods. I pencil mod my cards but it's a bit of a finicky business and can be quite annoying.

Do you sell volt modded sense of humour as well?

Clearly you need some.

I stand by my original post. The 'marketing campaign' as you have decided to call it, was a trainwreck, aimed at hormonal teenagers.

If the 'marketing campaign' is as successful as you say, why are you now putting extra resources into flash video and high res photos?

Quite how you think my post is slander I'd be interested to know. Actually, having thought about it, I really don't care what you think. Whatever your product, your advert sucked. Slander , opinion, whatever. Get over it. Adding hi res photos of the same stuff isn't going to make it any better.

Oh, and would you like me to point out how many grammatical errors there are on your current advert? I'll give you a clue - a lot more than 6.

Seems to be getting close to advertising another shop on here anyway...

Really temped for some of these for my 8800GT's

I don't have the balls to physically volt mod my cards.. can only get 700core/linked shaders 1000 mem stable from mine at stock voltage.

Just as well there isn't one for the 9800GX2, cos I'm always tempted by innovations. Even if it is so apparently basic, props to Voodoo for coming out with these.

Of course it is and he shouldn't come on a shop based forum to support his wares. I wondered how long it would be before he found this thread, he's been everywhere else.

Don't be conned, total cost is pennies. Btw the 'special' tips are made by dozens of companies, that and a resistor, haha patent. Want to see a pounds worth of the uber special tips? Lol, want the part number?

To be fair, he didn't deny the cost was pennies. He stated it was cheaper than somebody posting him their card to be hard volt modded, cost of doing so and then posting back to the customer.

We all know the components needed to do a volt mod only costs pennies (well, the informed of us do).

Qudos to him for making it easy for a "home" user to do the volt mod at home and I have no problems at the price he is charging. At the end of the day he is putting them on auction with a low starting price. It's hardly his fault people are prepared to pay $50-$70 and bidding them up to that price. Market forces for you since he is currently the only person offering the product.

However, I do think his attack on The Abyss was unfair and uncalled for. I do think the way he is marketing them is OTT and very unprofessional with grammatical errors etc.

And if he gets round to making one for a 4870 I would buy one so long as it didn't cost me anymore than around £20 or so.

To be fair it really isnt his fault its going for that much cash! I mean people are bidding hell if it was me I'd be selling them and loving people putting that big a bid in!

However volt modding like a good few others is something that may be simple I just dont have it in me to totally try it myself! :S these things look great and once it settles down and comes to about £10-20 then im sure to pick one up for my 9800GTX however I can hit a core of 820Mhz no problem at all which aint to bad on air and the stock cooler.
