Oakwood in Pembrokeshire

Anyway myself and Nikebee were chatting and Oakwood came up

Just wondering if anyone else has been there and what they thought of the place?

Oh yheah .... went there last Tuesday and I went on Speeed, Bounce and Megaphobia + a few other rides



edit... also forgot to mention when you live close to the place ( about 10 miles ) the less likely you are to visit ( twice in about 15yrs lol )

Oakwood is pretty cool, it's been surrounded with the shadow of the whole "Come to Pembrokeshire And Die At Oakwood" thing which is a little sad (in more ways that one), ever since that girl fell off Hydro :(

Like I said earlier though, it's definitely a case of living right next door to it (well a few miles away anyway) and hardly ever going to it.

It seems like its pretty high on all holiday makers list to do though, it's a good place... a little expensive though, not sure what you pay in Alton Towers though so I can't put it in perspective.

Megafobia seems a little over-rated personally, if you've been on some "propper" wooden roller coasters like some of the ones they have in the Six Flags parks in the states then Megafobia is pretty pants.

Not been there since either Speed or Hydro was built though, I was last there when Bounce was the new ride and that was built in 1999!

The "Views" bit on OcUK isn't live like the posts part is, it gets updated every hour or so so that it gives the OcUK servers a bit of a chance to breathe and catch up :)

It could be the most successful thread ever, but you'll have to wait an hour to find out...

Oh... and it is 1:30am :p
 
My grandparents live near Haverford. Been a couple of times over the years and love it! Think the Crystal Maze next door is great too ;)

Its been a few since ive been i'll admit! Have some great memories going there as a youngster. Although I went on holiday to Saundersfoot 2 years ago and went bowling in the CC2000.
 
Been to the Crystal Maze once, that was very odd. Not been to Oakwood itself, though I used to go to Pembroke quite a lot to visit a friend who lives there. I'm fairly sure he used to work in a burger place at Oakwood, and got himself fired for scaring small children. Spend most of my time over there on beaches and in pubs, to be honest, but I do like the place :)
 
The Crystal Maze, oh dear lord - that doesn't even deserve to call itself the Crystal Maze :(

It's a good laugh but it's all computerised and there's maybe 1 or 2 physical activities... It needs serious modernisation as well.
 
Hyrdo is a good way to start off your visit to oakwood - just stand on the bridge!

Personally i don't do rides but still it's a great day out, have any of you been there on halloween? they turn the lights off in the ghost train and it's literally pitch black, the staff dress up and come at you with chainsaws etc...pretty funny.
 
My girlfriend's gone up there today. I've been 4 or 5 times, it's ok but as other's have said a bit overpriced for what's there. And if you've been to any proper theme parks then it's all a bit underwhelming!
