Pre-orders opened at noon today for the first 14 gameworlds with the game going live in October. All information is here:

I didn't manage to get into the beta which apparently was very buggy to start off with but reports say that those have been ironed out now so i'm really looking forward to getting into this as all i'm reading now is positive stuff. As a football manager veteran, this game has the potential to be awesome.

Anyone else signup?

My team name is Charlton Paralytic and i'm on the Shearer gameworld.

OcUK Football Manager Live - Team / Game-World List

Been in beta since the PCGamer invites went out about four/five months ago on GW8 and I've signed up for a years subscription when it's released. Will be on the Keane GW as that's the one the folk at work have picked.

The game has it's issues (server stability, wage & price inflation and people leaving the game but that could be more to do with the fact that since it's in beta just now they can fanny around a bit) and I'm still a bit concerned how they'll handle a few issues on release but all things considered it's a really good game.

edit - Team name for release will be McGeady WonderBhoys, if you were on GW8 you've probably pumped me sideways a few times since I dropped out of the top ten.

What happened to FM2009?
As Frank Butcher says FM09 is still coming out. SI aren't big enough to be able to afford releasing FM every two years. Admittedly SI aren't helping themselves with a late announcement of info on FM09 features/release date. That and the fact that FML is being worked on is just causing way too many rumours than is usual. However SI have said they will release info on FM09 before end of August. So soon. :)

Its due out on 31/10 I believe.

I cant see how this can possibly work? Do you all have to wait to be online, or do you play one game and then wait for the other to play theirs?

How much does it cost?

Thanks

If you are on a Gameworld, is there only one Kaka for example?

Does this mean most players will be left with all the **** players?

£22.99 for 3 months
£43.99 for 6 months
£72.99 for 12 months

I was going to join but not for this much!

EDIT: Might try for 3 months at least I suppose.

Each GW consists of 1,000 players and you join an FA that suits your needs. Depending on how often you can log in, the times you can log in will depend on the GW you choose.

For example, due to work commitments I opted for a GW where games were played between 10pm and 1am every day. You can, if both managers are online play outside of this times.

During the season you play each other when you are both online, however, each fixture has a completion date. If the game is not played when this expires the manager who has been online the most within the FA's run time will be awarded AI rights and has 24 hours to play their opponents team, controlled by the AI. This team will be whatever XI the manager had selected at the time, if a player is injured they play without a player in that position.

All the AI does is make in game subs.

Prices are as per SS post.

Yes, there is only one of each player per Gameworld, but, not all players are available at the start. Over time (and with higher scouting skill) other players become available.

I was really excited about FML when it was first announced, but after playing the beta, I'm really not that enthralled about it. :(

Thats correct.

As above, there are 1,000 teams per GW. At the start of the game all managers start with 500,000 budget to assemble their squad and a 100,000 wage budget.

You purchase whatever players you want at the beginning to get your team. To start it is unlikely anyone will have a world class side. My best player was Mido and he cost me £110,000 to sign on the opening day.

As the seasons progress you get more cash and can bid on new players, the acquisition fee for Kaka is £6m. The game drip feeds players into the game so the unreachable players wont be available to start with.

Also, you need to learn scouting skills to obtain access to all players, meaning that not everyone will have access to all those available.

On free agents wage auctions determine who gets the player, on the expiry of the 24 hour auction the manager who pays the most per week gets the player (this is the same on contract renewals).

On transfer auctions its the highest offer getting the player and they pay the same wages as the previous manager.

Same as me.

I have been playing it a lot, on most evenings but have recently lost interest. It doest offer enough to managers who can only play late at night, as there arent 80 other managers about who do the same, so you often find yourself playing AI's. Well, you did on my GW.

Now, my GW (10) has gone **** up and the database corrupted so I am without any play.

As a result, it is unlikely I will be playing on release even with the 50% Beta Tester discount.

People are saying it's expensive but it actually works out cheaper than any MMO out there. I think it's the way they have presented it. Don't forget the client is a free download and all updates and expansions will be free.

When you log in for the first time, you have to choose an FA that will group you with players who play at the same time as you. They have seemed to have covered all the bases for casual and hardcore players also which is important.

Have SI announced that? Unless they have I won't believe it. :)

Not officially, but before my GW went belly up we were discussing it in the FA Mods chat and that was the release date given and there were a number of SI employees within the chat group.

Plus, the last week of October is the release date of all previous versions of FM.

This actually sounds really awesome and I want to join. Will be preordering this afternoon.

Couple of Questions:

1. What GW will people from OcUK be joining?
2. Can you change your team name once you register or are you stuck with that forever?

I was really excited about this but after hearing more about it, the less I want to play it.

I was hoping it would be like WoW where you can log in any time and well... actually I dunno it's very confusing. :p

+ it's really expensive!

If a player is injured they play without a player in that position? That sounds realistic lol

Might pass on this one lol

I got in on the beta and at first I really liked it. But the more I play the more frustrated I get with certain things. So it's very unlikely that I will be purchasing the game.

I'll list some of my concerns.

Hard to find time to play all games in your league.
People seem to hoover up players and then ruin themselves as they can't afford to pay wages properly meaning it's almost impossible to get players fitting your team.
Match results seems incredibly random, you can go several matches without scoring then without changing your team you play an away game against a guy who is much higher in the league and you trash him 3-0, then in the next few games you can't score at all.

Yes the lag that was present at the start is almost gone but the game doesn't feel complete and to much things are random and you can't do anything to change the flow of the game.
