4870 BIOS with increased voltage

willhub. have you checked for artifacts using atitool? I have to lower to 800/1000 to get no artifacts at all. But at 825/1000 i just get a few, though these would not be seen easily as they come up once or twice in a minute, i am scared over a duration it may damage the card. If you can please let me know what is the highest you can achieve withough no artifacts for at least 5 minutes, that would be great. Btw, i used atitool 2.7 beta 3. I am not sure if these is a 2.8 out there.

Cheers.

Thought it was normal for ATI cards that once they started artifacting (bad overclock), you'd need to restart the PC.

Tell you what, i will go open an account on one of those file sharing site and stick it there. Then no one needs to stay and seed :)

Here you go guys, enjoy!

ATIHD4870512MBOCX795-1100MHz.exe

edit: note that once you start the program it will automatically start the flashing process, it does not need winflash or anything as it comes in the .exe. So make sure before you click it to turn off everything (open applications running etc). Then restart computer once's its finished flashing.

No problem mate. Its nice to be the one giving out the help sometimes. Usually I am browsing around doing the learning :)

edit: can you run atitool and see how far you can take the gpu without any artifacts please. thanks.

hmm, altered core to 830 and grid would crash, fine at 795 and 1100 though, i think the previous modded asus bios was better.

Im running an accelero with 120mm fan strapped to it as well.

Are you going to be flashing back? How do you plan to do it? through winflash or from dos?

I havent tested ATi tool, I will do when I get some drivers that work for it that are not 8.8's. Before the flash I was running 825/975.

Can SOMEONE try 3DMARK06 and 3DMARK VANTAGE and confirm if you have stuttering, if so its this BIOS.

I will give it a go in a while and let you know. What do you mean exactly by stutering? I mean when frames go low it kinda does that anyway no?

No when frames go low it dont usually do that all the time, it was like frames skipping too, happened at like 40fps too.

BTW in ATi Tool at 1100 I get errors almost instantly. This bios needs modding for 1000, its not good having it at 1100.

Does anyone also have stutters in Furmark, I have always got that, need something to test for stability yet it stutters no matter what clocks. Also stuttering in 3dmark happens wayyy more when overclocked.

I dont think its the BIOS, as I dont get errors on my card till I go past 1125. Just enable overclocking in CCC and change it too 1000, as anything above that does not gain you much fps. Mainly gpu which makes a big difference!

Its not the bios no, the bios does nothing to memory overclocks, what I mean is they should mod it so its 1000 stock, less chance of problems even tho mine aint stable at 1000, I got no errors detected at 1000 in ATi Tool but I seen a couple of yellow squares, testing 850/900 atm nearly 20mins gone, when it gets to 30 gonna stop it and try 850/975 and raise the core even more, my guess is 850 is the max.

Your lucky to be getting such high core stable. I cant get anything above 810, but for memory i can get a lot more. The thing is, games resbond a lot more to core increase then memory. I will wait for the new custom cooler before i consider modding it.

On the stock cooler I could not get anything abover 810, I put an Accelero S1 on, it was up to 825, now 850 on this bios.
