I have a recently purchased AK 965 cooler. I've removed the stock Intel cooler which I had on my E4500. However, I now don't know which way round the fan should go on the Akasa. Should it be at the front or the back of the fins?

This is unreal- with the stock Intel, as soon as I put the CPU under 100% load temps would jump to 60 and continue to rise to about 70. With this they jump to 45 and rise to about 52!!!

If this is anything like the Akasa AK-925, fan orientation is very important. It is a closed circuit liquid system. The outlet tube should be at the top, inlet bottom, the fan blows towards the top of the case. Otherwise cooling is compromised.

Edit: scratch everything I've said. Just checked the cooler out and it appears the be a heatpipe design.

Yea it is...and with temps like this I'm happy even if it is wrong ;)

Yeah its one of the best performing coolers for the money. Are all the pins in ok? Becuase one pin on mine wouldn't fully click into place and it affected temperatures big time. I took the mobo out of the case (bit of a faf I know) to push all the pins fully through and now it performs excellently.

2 of them didn't "click" in, but I pushed them down pretty hard and they are more secure than my stock cooler ones ever were, so they should be OK. I'm up to 1.375 volts and it hasn't hit 60C at load, so it's performing pretty well!

yes - the airflow of the fan is indeed facing rear

I've currently got a Coolermaster Hyper TX 2 cooling an AMD AM2 3800X2 - is the Akasa any better / quieter (for those who've had experience of the two)?
