Hi all,

I did a search however I couldn't find much info specifically on the Tagan PipeRock series of PSU's

What is their accepted quality? I remember a little while ago that Tagan were the 'daddies' and I'm interested in the 800w PipeRock model

What are peoples opinions on this range? :)

Thanks,

Scott C

I have one of these:
1300W Tagan TG1300-BZ "6 VGA Rails" Gold Plated PipeRock Modular Cable Management, +80% Efficiency

It seems to cope with my SLI 280s 5HDD's quad etc with 100 stable voltages. Fro mmemory i think my +5 is 4.97 and +12 is like 12.04 and +3.3 is like 3.29 or something and they have been like that for the last month, and dont change underload or fluctuate etc.

Build quality is excellent, they use the Hiper style connectors (metal screw things) for the modular cables which is the nicest/coolest way I've seen being done. The sockets on it all light up color coded nice and brightly and it seems to be nice and quiet, although I can't really comment on that due to the fact that all my other components are going to drown it out lol.

Overall I'd say I'm around 95% happy with it, only issue i had was that it was around 1mm to fit flush in my case (Kandalf) but i dont care too much since New case has been shipped :D

They have gone off the boil especially with the piperock 800W.

Google that popular american etailer which has something to do with "not old things laid by chickens"

You can see on user views how many have gone pop within the first year.

Plus Tagan are only 1st year labour and parts and years two and three are parts only. Not good for a high end psu costing good money.

Lastly, google the 800W Tagan on yutube for some interesting videos of them whistling which seems a common fault.

I used to swear by Tagan but currently I wouldn't buy one. You are only as good as the last psu you made.

Used an old 580 2force Tagan for a couple of years. Great quality and nice performance.

Then moved to an 850 watt Thermaltake Toughpower and then to a 550 watt fanless Yesico PSU.

Now have a 900 watt Piperock.

Powers the rig in sig no problems and is very quiet.

Build quality seemed ok and the rails have been very stable even when under heavy benching or gaming load.

A little concerned by Greebo's info but will just have to wait and see i suppose. :)

I don't think that Easter place is classed as a competitor, as they don't ship to the UK and OcUK don't ship to the US. But, yeah, as you said, Tagan are the only brand that I would not consider buying from at all. Their attitude to HardOCP earlier this year, as well as the fact that their pwoer supplies are now a bit crap, have turned me away. Added on to the fact that Corsair prices are extremely resonable, which means that there isn't really a reason to buy any other brand apart from them, unless you demand the absolute best of the best, at a huge price.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments...I opted for the PC P&C Silencer 750w in the end from searching around the forums and various reviews

Thanks :)
