I am currently looking to upgrade my graphics card as I have got a new job and my wife said I can treat myself

I game at 1680x1050 and the rest of my build is in sig.

I dont want to go mad and spend crazy money. Around £150 would be my limit.

Do you think I should try and pick up an GTX or try and grab a bargain 4850/70 in mm.

PS Isnt someone going to update the graphics card in the sticky in this section about latest cards and order of power?

Thanks

Woohooo:D

From what i've seen in almost every thread of this sort, it's a 4850 every time. If you see one second hand under £150 buy the 4870.

About £40 from what I see:D Not sure on the complexities of it tbh.

8800 GTX just isn't worth it now, compared to the new ATI cards.

remember you can sell your 8800 gts for 35-45 quid and add that to your budget making the 4870 reachable.

The 4870 has generally beaten the 260 in the benchmarks, but it's pretty close. The 280 is better than that 4870 in most games, but its a good deal more expensive.

It all depends on what games you want to play?

If you have around £150, then id do as above, sell the GT and put what you get for that towards the money you have and grab a 4870, the 260 is only pretty close to the 4870 with no AA, once you start piling on the AA the 4870 pulls away as they are much better at it, GT200's take quite a hit with AA where as ATi's new 4800's hardly take any, 4870 even beats the GTX280 in most games at 1920x1200 with either 4xAA or 8xAA and its got half the Ram. :D

i upgraded from a 320mb Gts to a 4870 and game at 1680X1050,
i find the difference amazing tbh.
A 4850 would safice but the 4870 leaves some headroom for future games imo.

the gx2 is eww.

is is sli, so the performance isn't optimised for everything. it has two chips, so it's hot and horrible.

gt a 4850 or a 4870, depending on how good a boy you have been :p
