email in trust or bung it here

Managed an awesome avoidance the other day, first lap turn 6 of laguna seca (just before the corkscrew) I was right behind the guy when he went wide and just span directly in front of me, somehow managed to fling it to the left and avoid him, guy behind me didn't manage it though, kinda made me chuckle, and gave me a bit of breathing room :p

I always break out in manic laughter when others crash around me, it's ridiculous, I can't help myself! :D

Cheers NutritioN, just got the email, hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

To start with you'll only be able to drive the Solstice on the road and the Legends on the oval (should try it, more fun than it sounds), so not really worth buying content till you've got a D licence (or an SR of 4.00) when you can race the Skip Barber and associated tracks, which are supposed to be good fun :)

lol Edleake,

I had a lovely completely clean race earlier, with every flying lap into the 1:51's or lower, good for me, so I went and started another one.

End of the first lap and I was in third (from 5th on the grid), 2 seconds ish ahead of 4th and 0.4s behind 2nd (according to F3), life was good...

Round T1/T2 I took a tight line, he left me room (when he didn't really need to, I wasn't even alongside), and was right behind him going into T3, he runs wide and I'm sat there almost pointing and laughing thinking i'll get 2nd place easy, and in my enjoyment of his impending doom I completely failed to notice the back end stepping out, cue me following him into the barrier, d'oh

And then in the 2 laps I bothered to do after that I went off track twice and span once, just completely lost my concentration so thought it best to quit :p

ah well, 4 minutes till I can join the next one...

Hasn't convinced me yet. :) Similar issues to my experiences with Rfactor, the FF is weird with my MSFF wheel. LFS seems to communicate well, I can feel the front wheels under load, rumble strips and the weight transitioning seems fine. But in iRacing there's more input lag, less response from road bumps/strips and I REALLY don't like speed sensitive steering (but that doesn't come into play much.) Oh, and I don't like the sounds, and the graphics are average (except for the full shadows in the cockpit - lovely.) Right that's enough bashing, and I fully understand it could be my wheel at fault.

I plan to get a G25 soon, but it's frustrating that a wheel that feels so nice in one game doesn't transfer well to others. But then it is probably 6 yrs old. I've tried turning off enough details/vsync etc. to keep the fps above 100, but hopefully there's more tweaking I can do in a config file somewhere to save me buying a G25 for a little longer :) . Anyone in East London I can try your G25 out?

I've only been around Lime Rock in the Solstice so far BTW.

You have to buy additional cars / tracks with real money? WTF is a monthly sub not enough?

I've just been watching some YouTube vids of iRacing... It looks just like nascar 2003 with added mods. Even the tyre scrub sound is the same!

NutritioN, could be your wheel, I only played it on my MSFF wheel very very briefly before upgrading to a G25 (along with upgrading the rest of my system), and I didn't like it although couldn't put my finger down on why, partially I think it was the steering, in the solstice you only ever need to turn the wheel about 90 degree's or so (the actual cars wheel) and that seemed to be nothing on the MSFF wheel so I ended up steering too much, but then I didn't play with the settings, just got the G25 :p

With the G25 though it's awesome, no input lag (at least that i've noticed, but then didn't notice any with the MSFF?) and the FF i've setup to be very subtle but it's perfect, lets me know exactly whats going on without ever interfering, at first I had the force set much higher and the feedback was very strong, but that ended up interfering...

my FPS atm fluctuate between 50 and 80 during races so you don't need a high framerate really,

I wish the rookie solstice league was still at Lime Rock Park, I like that place :p

PiKe, yes, this was mentioned earlier in the thread, monthly sub and then either the credits you get when buying the subs or more money for different cars/tracks, like it or not thats they way they chose, whether it's worth it depends on you really, for me it is but then maybe i've got more money than sense :p

You do however get nearly half your sub back to spend on car's/tracks.

No you can't share an account, you can install it on as many machines as you like but you can only race one instance at a time.

I remember that name, can't remember if that was one of my clean or shocking races though, never seem to have anything inbetween :p

most of my races so far have been fairly shocking! Although that particular race wasnt too bad, managed a 3rd a few seconds behind you :o

Ah, that race, remember it now, Alexandre <something> won, he/she was just too quick, but I managed 0 incidents iirc, my first completely clean laguna seca race \o/

Won 2 races later as well, albeit purely because the leader span, he was ~5 seconds ahead after 8 laps and again just too quick, not complaining though :)

Other than those two races my evening consisted of a lot of stupid errors :p

Subscribed last night, downloaded the installer, but can't get past the updates page to download the rest.

Seems to be the iRacingServer isn't running correctly as when I start it, it brings up the dos box, closes that down. On viewing this in Task Manager, the iRacingServer starts for a very short time then disapears.

Have followed the instructions to add exceptions etc into NOD32, but that hasn't cured the problem.

Don't know if it makes a difference I'm running via Virgin Media cable and linking through a cable router Linksys 350 I think.

Operating System is Vista Ultimate 64.

I emailed support last night but have yet to receive a reponse.

Anyone have any advice?

Cheers

Taff
