afternoon everyone,

Quick question reguarding the above card. Had a little play with it and got it running at these settings

But according to rivaTuner it's running at 621/1404/999 which one should I beleive? also, what have you got out of yor cards and do you think I could push it a bit more?

thanks sp

Believe Rivatuner, go look at the hardware monitoring in Rivatuner also.

Think the best for GTX's was around 650 core if I am not mistaken.

ok, I can get it upto 646 but it really doesn't like that, don't think I've properly found the sweet spot for core/shaders/memory bliss lol

Edit: might be a case of not enough juice getting to the core when pushed, without resorting to volt-modding is there a way to up the volts a bit through a piece of software?

There are things simillar to multipliers involved, you will find the clock set in rivatuner will "snap" to the nearest multiple, for example, the OC2 is set at 626, and is actually doing 621, next viable speed is 630 or something.

665 (or whatever valid clock is nearest to that) is as far as my oc2 will go even with the fan pre-revved up to 100%.

my bfg overheats if i even overclock it by 1mhz, really annoying.
Is the autofan working correctly? Use Rivatuner and GPUz to monitor the temps and fan duty. If all else fails use Rivatuner to manually set the fan speed to 100% for max cooling then try some overclocks, if it still crashes you know it's not a temp problem.

I know all cards are different but can someone post what their cards are running at (stable) just to give me an idea what to aim for,

thanks sp

My OC2 is runing at 648/1512/2000 stable (according to RT). I always boot the fan up to about 90% when gaming and turn it down when finished, keeps the card under 85c while playing most of the time.

right, bit of an update. according to RT mines running at 648/1512/2052 and it seems ok, haven't tried it in a game yet, do that tomorrow, but I've run it through 3dmark 06 and all seems ok, no lockups or anything. Kept the fan at 90% and it hit 67c which is pretty good, got 14485 marks :)

OcUK 8800GTX runs perfectly with these settings.

No arti's or tearing in vantage or 6hrs of tf2 gameplay. Can't remember checking temps after the bench of vantage or TF2 gameplay.

Just hope my 280GTX that comes tomorrow clocks as well.

similar clock i can reach with my PointOfView 8800GTX. :) 648/1620/2000 highest stable

for some reason, my memory if fine at 2000 (well, 999 in Riva), but if i go to the next level, it'll artifact all over the place. i can put shader clock higher as well, had done 1700something once, 3Dmark 06 didn't like it, but Vantage was fine with that overclock.

i have 621/1566/1800 all the time, you can aim for that. i figure there's already planty of memory bandwidth compared to 9800GTX, so no need to overclock that part. shader is the most important part to overclock

Best I could get my BFG OC up to on the stock cooler was 630 core (i forget the rest) but after w/cing them I could get 660-670 core and almost 1100 memory. They weren't 100% stable for long periods at those speeds though and i found in 3DM06 i'd get higher scores with the cores set around the 630-640 mark

Core will do 621mhz and then the next jump is to 648mhz.
The jump from 621 to 648 happens when you set core speed higher than 631.

Clocks are multiples of 27mhz.
It is also possible to use half multi's but there isn't one betwen 621 and 648 GTX's always jump from 621 to 648 with nothing in between.

You cannot increment the core in 1mhz steps.
The desired speed is read from the bios and the closest match bearing in mind the 27mhz steps is chosen.
