4870 power plugs - what do I need?

Just to confirm, but the 4870 requires one 6-pin and one 8-pin power plug, right? I've got a Corsair HX 520W PSU but it only has one 6-pin plug which is connected to my 7900GT. Have looked in the spare cable wallet that came with the PSU but there's no 8-pin plug.

Is this something I have to get from Corsair, will it come with the 4870, or can I use something like the Akasa 8-Pin 30cm PSU Extension Cable?

Thanks.

The 4870x2 requires an 8-pin and a 6-pin together, so the regular 4870 I presume requires less, I can't remember myself exactly what it needs but as I just bumped this thread maybe someone can tell you :)

Ah, ok. Had a spare 6-pin in the cable wallet so that's ok then. Thanks!

I'd be worried if it didn't since I have exactly the same PSU and a 4870 ;)

The cards also come with 2x 2-molex-to-PCI-e adaptors for older systems, but it's second preference IMO.

Yeh ive got a 4870 and was worried i didnt have any spare 6 pins - i was relieved when i did! Was quite surprised it needed two - why is this?

It draws too much power than the PCI-E slot and a single 6-pin plug could handle. I doubt it uses much over that limit but it still needs that second plug. Just look at the 4850, it doesn't quite use enough juice to need 2 plugs :)
