Was flashed this morning, wasn't speeding..

Driving out of Cardiff on road '2' this morning, road '1' was empty at the time, there are no 'speed markings' on road '2' and I was flashed when I was passing the ones on the opposite road.

I never speed, always stick to sensible speeds and don't have a performance car, like most of you lads. (not that any of that makes a difference at 40..)


Can the cameras get it wrong? -especially since there's no markings on my side of the road?

Probably a long shot, but could it have been a camera test?

What could I expect to get in the post?

Did it flash once or twice? I think if it only flashes once then its a camera self-test.

I live in Cardiff and that's definitely a 40 zone.

I can't remember, kind of caught me by surprise, I looked down at the speedo instantly, and it was on 40

Na, you should be alright. As Justintime mentioned, it's on the oppisite side. You'll be fine. Dont worry about it.

That camera is a gatso. What if the road wasn't dual carriageway and they used a truvelo camera? Would you get caught from the front?

i ahve been flashed once before going the opposite way to the cameras, nothing ever happened about it, maybe you where going a few mph over the other way?

Don't worry about it mate. IIRC speed cameras are set at 10% +2, so you'd have to go 46 anyway to make it flash.

From the lines in the road, it looks as though it was a Gatso camera which can only take a photo of the back of the vehicle, but it's got to be on the same side of the road. It was probably someone else getting done.

Yeah, the Truvelo cameras are able to do this.

@ OP - I wouldn't worry about it, was either a self test or a driver on the other side of the road set it off.

if my fuel gague is anything to go by, the speedo could be out, but i was going a similar speed to all the other cars
