Hi,

I'm wondering if I will notice a desirable difference in sound quality if I was to upgrade my wiring.

This is my current setup...

Sound Blaster X-Fi
Teac A-H500i amp
B&W DM601 S2

My speaker cable is this...

Shall I upgrade the wiring to...

Qed Silver Anniversary XT speaker cable
Qed Qunex J2P 2P (3.5mm to phono)

Thanks in advance. :)

your speaker cable is 2x 4mm^2?

yeah, there's no need to replace it unless you're powering rock concert speakers.

getting the speakers off the desk would help.

1. speakers in corners never sound perfect
2. some isolation between the desk and the boxes
3. the triangle listening position. read up, it will help I promise.

these 3 things will get the most out of any setup, regardless of wires, amps, speakers etc.

Appreciate the replies guys.

My room is rather small and don't have anywhere else to place my speakers other than the desk. I have sat the speakers on some blue tak though.

not enough isolation really. even getting some air under them would help.

the idea is that the speakers would sound perfect if perfectly placed (sky hooks?)

some small desk stands, or some isolating foam would do the trick. get the angle as best as you can to give you a wider/more accurate stereo image.

but to go back to the start. changing the cable will not give you a better quality experience.

edit: and your using the digital/analogue convertor in the soundblaster?
no one component makes a system. AFAIK the ADA in soundblasters isn't so clever.
