....instead of saying no sorry I'm not interested.

Had a plumber come round to quote for having a combi boiler installed, he came over and seemed really uninterested with lots of "hmmmmm's, aahhhh's and oooooh's"

Anyway I had to push him to hurry up and send the quote and he's quoted £3924.50 inc VAT which is about 400-500 over what others have quoted us, and that's the min as we could potentially require extra work.

Oh well his loss I suppose.

Why not? You can't be bothered with the job so stick a few hundred quid over the odds on, you probably won't get it but if you do it should make up for the drag of having to do it. If I was self employed there's no way I'd say I wasn't interested.

Which is?

radiators? 1 or 20,000?

piping? showers?

you tell me.

:p

Oh right :p

Boiler, removal of old water tank extra rad stat's, digital 7 day thermostat, flushing of system, installation. Think that covers it.

We have 6-7 radiators, 3 of which will need the new rad stat's as there's no way of controlling the temp on them currently.

There's a whole load of standards they have to adhere these days apparently to make it more "eco friendly"

A relative did very similar job spec for me, may be a little more work as more rads (3 years ago now so no doubt some inflation) and the cost price was around £2500 including gear and me paying the plumber's mate but not the plumber. So doesn't sound that outrageous.

edit: just remembered we had 2 new rads as well and were moving the boiler to a totally different spot so lot of pipework so ignore me

Except I've had another quote which was about £2800 + VAT (nb. not inc) for the same work

I had a plumber over to do some work for me. Started off at £170. Paid him £120 and both of us were very happy.
All you got to do is ask them "is that the best cash price..." :).
