Hi,

Right I'm buying a q6600 and the seller has notified me that he has two for sale and given me the choice of:

l725b020

*or*

L738a740

Can anyone tell me which will be the better clocker.

thanks

those aren't steppings =/

the two steppings are B3 or G0.

G0 is the better stepping of the two.

i think those two are batch numbers.

Had a look around could only find clocking results on the first batch number.. was clocked to 3.6 @ 1.45v ish which is not golden CPU but certainly not that bad given a lot of the lastest Q6600 wont get near that

get a SLACR energy efficiant quad
that should be G0 stepping - its the one you want
i got one off the MM thats on its way now

Both those batch numbers are G0 AFIK?

ANd the first one is definietly the best. In the links I gave earlier some are hitting 3.8Ghz which would be a pretty sweet result.

Mines not too bad! Barely pushed it, and will clock to 3Ghz on less than stock volts. Granted im sure it wont match a cherry picked, 4Ghz Q6600 from some of the best batches, but i have not ben disappointed.
