OCZ Core SSD v2 IN STOCK!!!

v2 is slightly faster, has a mini usb socket for firmware updates and the size is exactly the same as a normal 64gb- it's just Ocz are at last putting the real disk sizes.

correct. 170/98mb/s (read/write) vs 138/93mb/s and 0.4ms vs 0.2-0.3ms. So a fair bit better, usb port for firmware updates in a nice touch as im sure performance will be improved a lot with updates.

you'll have to wait for review sites, likely 2 weeks or so, they have been very slow at reviewing harddrives over the past few months:(

how are the updates going to be done via mini usb?
I'm thinking of putting it into my lappy; you need to take it out again to update?

V1 64GB is what the dirve is, but after format it comes to 60GB
So V2 is showing that youl will get 60GB AFTER format. so they are the same size.

V1 - Pre-formated size
V2- Post-Formated size

do they still have 4mb/s random access writes? :)

too many ppl concentrate on the sequential speed from benchmarks, they don't paint the real picture ;)

It's got nothing to do with formatting.

From OCZ's website:

Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s storage capacity. On the Core V2 Series the new naming convention reflects this and the 30 is equivalent to 32GB, the 60 is equivalent to the 64GB and so on.

It's the standard GB vs GiB issue, minus some space for write-levelling.

Why oh why did I install my new hard drive into my laptop without backing up the stuff I need from my old hard drive...? Need to attack my lappy with the screwdrivers again.

My review: It's fast!
