on my NRG 50. It was more like 50mph, but ya know. I haven't got google earth so I can't show my route, however there was zero traffic around and yes it's not hard to ride a ped, but I'm confident in my riding skills. Still doesn't mean I won't hit anyone etc, I know, but we've all done it.

What I wanna know is why they let me off. No evidence?

I did 50 in a 30 with a cop behind me a few weeks back. this was at about 2am iirc so i think he used a bit of common sense. Either that or wanted to get home without a load of paperwork.

You are an idiot.

People like you that give, motorists/riders a bad name.

They should have gave you a fine. Speeding I don't have a problem with, never going to say ive never done it before. But 50/60 in a 30 is just wrong.

yes we have

Edit: in fact, I'm going to hang my balls out in the breeze and say it

I've touched the ton in a 30 limit, more than once

I ****ing dare you to judge me without knowing the circumstances, the road, the machine I was on, the time of night, and so on and so forth.

Awesome.

At some point on every proper drive I go on I will more than double the 30mph limit. A lot of 30mph limits are ridiculously low and many people have cars capable of going from 30-60 pretty quickly and also coming into a 30mph limit and slowing in next to no distance.

It doesn't matter what the road is, or what time of night it is. This mentality is what causes accidents; "Its always a clear road" or "No one will be out at this time at night".

Anyway, "****ing dare" accepted, and I have judged you to be an idiot

I hardly think its fair to judge quite so harshly without knowing the road in question.

Fair enough, naturally though there is a reason for speed limits. Espically 30's.

Maybe I shouldn't have judged so quickly and no doubt when I was younger done speeds I shouldn't have in 30's.

Remember kids, all 30 zones are near parks, playgrounds and have houses on them. There are no stupid pointless 30 limits in the middle of nowhere, there are no long straight 30 limits which suddenly narrow into twisting NSL roads and there are certainly no wide, long roads through industrial estates at 2am.

**** guys you best run!

You are lucky he let you off, take it as a warning.

Some 30 limit roads are just asking to be broken as they are so long and empty.

Point taken. :o

Not to mention the ironic 30mph roads where it's safe to do 70mph down which then turn into NSL roads at which point you only really feel comfortable doing 40-50mph because the roads are so narrow, the surface is poor or you are completely unsighted.

There's a 30mph road near me which is 0.75 mile long, straight, wide and with excellent visibility and no exits, driveways or parked cars on either side. At times that's safe for 90mph. The only reason the limit is like that is because there's one junction, then half a mile later there's another one. In between them it's perfectly safe.

Of course it matters what the road is, and what time of night it is. That's exactly what matters. The mentality of following a speed limit regardless of circumstance is what causes accidents.

Are you the type that does 69.5 miles an hour down the motorway in driving snow?

There's a road less than ten miles from here that's a mile and a half long and has one property on it. At the end. You could max out any road legal vehicle down there and hit nothing but air, in broad daylight. That road, incidentally, I've never touched the ton on.

You do realise a modern motorbike can hit the ton in seconds, right?

You make yourself sound like a subservient proletarian idiot.

There's 60 limit roads around here where you'd be off your ****ing rocker to hit 50, likewise there's 30 limit roads where you can comfortably nudge a ton and be of no danger to anyone, disregarding dumb luck.

The same sort of dumb luck that means you can snap your neck tying your shoelaces.

Precisely. There are plenty of 30 zones where, given the correct conditions, it is absolutely safe to do 60mph.
