**OcUK Crysis 1680x1050 VERY HIGH Settings Top List**

I wouldnt say a E6600 at 3.4 is slow it all! Plus i was nearly getting the same FPS levels as you before at just 3 ghz ;) im going to try and clock mine up at the weekend. Im suprised that 700mhz has made a 5 fps advantage!

My fps has went up a lot since managing an extra 20Mhz out of my GPU to get it to 850Mhz core and the 600Mhz + 15% clock for clock speed advantage over the E6600.

You where getting almost the same levels before, its a game that favours NV cards ;) The E8500 is a speed boost IMO and is miles better than my old ageing E6600 was.

So 8xAA, 1680x1050 all high DX9?

Sounds about right as 8xAA seems to default to 2xAA, 48fps I get without AA.

I'm using 8xaQ if that makes a difference?

Still I think comparatively my system is outperforming many higher spec rigs. One in the corner for AMD in a heavily Intel dominated environment? :)

I'm going to tweak my memory timings tonight and see if I can swing another haymaker!

What speed is the 4870 at?

If a system is getting very odd results compared to everyone else then its fair to say something is wrong, if you got 40fps with 8xQAA and everyone else is getting 30 or less then the score is wrong basically.

For example, I'm on Vista, perfectly streamlined, I have an E8400 at 4Ghz, its unlikely you'll get a higher score.

Well, my systems are always streamlined and tweaked to hell.

2 years of XP install, everyday use and still boots in 20 seconds.

System drive runs nothing but OS and drivers, seperate disk for swap, seperate disk for games and another for apps, XP is stripped to bare minimum, no anti-virus software installed, no background apps aside from the ATI CCC.

Nothing wrong from what I can tell, 3DMark06 score is pretty much how it should be at around 12k marks (quite low really).

To be fair I reckon 39-40 is my bottleneck because I can drop down to 1280x1024 and the score doesn't increase.

My 4870 is running 490/995, so a very mild overclock.

I guess the DX10 overhead is considerably more than 9?

At same settings I got 28.425. (8xQAA)

Your score is odd, something is deffenitly up, I was at 800/900 aswell.

And my 3DMark06 is about 15500 not that 3dmark matters.

If you get the same framerate at 1280x1024 then it sounds like it was running at 1280x1024 in the first place since 1680x1050 would be a lot lower.

At 1280x1024 8xQAA I'm only getting 41.54 so your 1680x1050 benchmark of 40fps simply must be wrong, I would not be surprised if your 1280x1024 at 40 is a little high since my CPU helped a lot from my old 3.4Ghz E6600 and this E8500 is hella more powerfull and even the 3.4Ghz E6600 is faster and the CPU does help in crysis. Lots of people are getting odd results, there was one not far above, the in game settings need to be set to high and 1680x1050 res, but even that never helped the person above.

Are you using the 8.8's?

Yep I'm running 8.8's, not sure how else I can prove it's right/wrong.

Is there anyway of enabling the fps counter in game?

I remember tring the demo with my older 3870 and struggling massively even on medium settings, the 4870 just seems to punch through without a problem - not that I'm complaining!

For you to only get 1-2fps more than me at 1280 is quite surprising.

I dont know how you can be proved right or wrong, tbh it will be a lot of messing about re running tests.

I'm in Vista X64 so it might be higher in XP.

I mean usually in a game the higher powered system is going to win and if you look at some of my benchmarks, 4xAA, very high.

You can see I'm up there, the CPU makes a difference, before on very high with my E6600 @ 3.4Ghz I was only getting about 26fps, now I'm getting 33 on it as the CPU really has helped and my CPU is a lot more powerfull and the GPU is overclocked to 850/975 so its obviously going to be faster, should be more than 2fps in the tests, now crysis benchmark dont seem to be like 3dmark, synthetic or something, but its not appearing to be real world like games anymore as there are some odd results, allthough its possible the software could be bugger, wonder if there is a new version out.

I have had some problems after using cfg's and stuff and mods after uninstalling them, 1680x1050 all high was giving me like 60fps solid, allthough you could easilly tell in some parts like the draw distance, less trees etc..

i have my new 1080 tv and i've just benchmarked crysis at 1920x1080 and 1680x1050, high, everything at stock including cpu.. results below:

only 5fps different between the two, is that right?

Hmm.

Well for reference 1680x1050 all high I get 48FPS.

Proberbly is about right since you got a Phenom and a 4850.

crysisveryhigh.jpg

thats mine -- looking at 48th place

the benchmark wont run without bsod at my usual 3GHz ???
but all my other games are fine and its priming ok

ive had to downclock my cpu for the bench to run properly

gonna upload another result set once i get my new cpu this week

will my new result overwrite my old score?
