Long story here

Basically, we were with BT broadband and everything was going fine, about a month ago my mum got a phone call from talk talk saying they can do a better deal etc, so she said yes. But I said to her this is not a good idea and she should cancel the order. So she did and they never received the MAC code or anything.

Now, 2 weeks ago the BT broadband was cut off and we have been ringing constantly to see what the problem is and how to get it fixed. We have been told there is a semi partial LLU tag on the line which is assume was something talk talk put on? And been told a new order has been placed for BT broadband which will get activated on the 26th.

There was then an error and it was put back to the 29th when they were meant to do "manual intervention" to try and get it working, here we are and it is still not coming. Phoned up and there has been a system fault apparently, and we don't know when it is coming now.

Basically are there any BT engineers on here who can personally look into this for me? They say they are working on it but I really don't want to be calling somebody in India telling me to restart my router again. Thanks

Talk talk can take over the line without a MAC as they can move you to LLU which doesnt require a MAC to do the move which sounds like what has happened.

Any way I can find out what's going on with my line then? I guess Talk Talk have this tag on and BT are trying to put theirs on or something?

Talk talk should remove it really as its their tag. BT retail will have to get BT wholesale to otherwise remove it which may take time.

Did she actually cancel the order with TalkTalk, or assume that not giving a MAC would do it automagically?

Just to add to what Immsy said, you don't need a MAC key to migrate to TT because they take over your line completely (voice service and all). Are you sure that the line rental is still with BT?

BT have said that there is no problem with the line and that it is a problem on their end. But with this Talk Talk thing going on I think that they may be wrong. Is there anyway to find out what is on my line without having to phone the companies?
