Dark Knight didn't go down well in Japan...

I'd hazard it has more to do with the Japanese liking the Gotham Knight anime and being disappointed with the Dark Knight due to it not meeting their expectations by comparison, rather than a lack of little girls and anti-Americanism.

The Japanese love their little girls. The legal age for sex is 13 over there, plus it's not illegal to possess child pornography.

It's not relevant to Dark Knight, but it's fairly interesting to know :p

Although the age of sexual consent in Japan is 13 years of age, prefecture law usually overrides federal law, raising the age up to 18.

to be fair, the screen play was scattered. the story line and crux (sonar in all *** phones?!) implausible, the ending, not partciularly dramatic. it was by no means a classic, it was just overhyped and under age rated to get the potential viewing audience up. 12a? ?

The acting was great though and name one american movie which has been successful in Japan? Or even one american product...

IIRC the last samurai was quite successful in japan (yes technically it was an american film)
And coca cola is quite successful there too :p
