Dark Knight didn't go down well in Japan...

It would have been interesting to see how the film fared, had Heath Ledger not died.

I can't help but think because of that, people's perspectives have gone out the window - hence why a negative review of the movie (like they all have) is so publicly highlighted.

Batman Begins was praised by most critics, TDK is even better. I don't think its got anything to do with Ledger's death (review wise anyway, ticket sales may have been affected.

try and structure your post to be productive. such as "in my opinion it is crap, i beleive this because" Your comment was just trolling.

Fair Enough. I just thought it'd be easier to read than a whole essay justifying my opinion.

I thought it was crap because I didn't enjoy it that much. This is because it went on for too long, and pretended to be deep with a vague exploration of morals and motivations behind actions, etc.

Don't understand why the Japanese wouldn't like it though, I thought they were into this stuff.

EDIT: If it was because they thought it was too pessimistic and gloomy, I would have to agree. On the day in question I wasn't in the mood for anything of the sort.

I agree totally, personally I found the film very dissapointing (poor overstretched plot, very unbelievable plot, far too fast moving, far too long not enough character build up, editing was dire (eg to get the 12 rating cutting away of gorey scenes), the Joker just didnt scare me in any way - like Nicholson did, the film had a huge dose of over self importance and RIDICULOUS 'moral' dilemas) (to point out only the bad, there was some good too I might add) but it seems people dont like it when a negative opinion is expressed!

It's a crap film.

+1

Dunno why they felt they had to remake a Batman with Joker in it, when a classic already existed.
Film was a fail from start to finish for me. Absolutely too much happening spoiled the overall effect for me.

I doubt Ledger performance would have been under the spotlight as much as it was if he was still alive and personally I thought it was ok at best and only in certain parts of the film. Nicholson owned the screen for me and is still one of the greatest 'baddy' performances I've seen to date, Ledger made me want my 6 quid back.

Of course I'm a huge fan of the original Tim Burton film so I suppose this was always going to let me down.

There...................... is no gore in Batman films, he tries not to kill anybody, let alone gore them.

I cant remember Jack Nicholson or Ceaser Romero dismembering anybody either.

!? And what of the Joker stabbing a face using a pen? Slashing peoples faces (ie Chelsea smiles?) - all cut away at the last minute, its so noticable in this film.

I can understand it I found it quite boring and unimaginative poorly scripted and certainly nowhere near as good as batman begins.
It's just another forgettable action film.

But thats how all the films have been, you never see anything like that.

This is funny coming from Japan - the country that loves destroying itself in many animations and classic movies.

I shoudn't say anything really, considering I havent seen Dark Knight yet
