Just curious why quite a few people use the terms "halfrauds" and "stealers", it confuses me a little as if people hate/dislike them well they don't buy from them, its not like they're forced to?!

Or is a "kewl" thing like the whole M$ for Microsoft?

Stealers, because they charge STUPID prices for little things.
Halfrauds, because in general they are just awfull and know nothing...

Quite often you are forced to buy from dealers. If you need a part, what choice do you have? If you need warranty work done, you are forced to go to them.

erm simple really...

Halfords pricing is stupidly expensive and the shops usually staffed with ideots and the same can be said for main dealers often. If you charge top dollar for stuff then you should at least have the decency to employ quality staff who can advise and service customers properly.

I bought some wiper blades the other day and they wanted £1.99 for fitting them.... its a pair of wiper blades ffs lol. Halfrauds is a good name for them ;)

if someone offered you £1.99 to stop what you were doing and go outside and fit them, would you? I certainly wouldn't.

I'm not sure what peoples troubles are with Halfords - maybe its because it's a big chain, and doing well for itself, some people just don't like seeing that happening

I buy a lot of bits and peices from Halfords, and will carry on doing so. I don't think I can get better tools for the money I paid for the tools i've bought from there. Throw in a trade card and stuff like lightbulbs, filters etc is peanuts as well.

I don't tend to visit dealers because my car is 13 years old - so whats the point?

Maybe i'm just not cool :(

Because those names are more fitting than the ones they replace and it doesn't take any longer to type them?

I totally agree. Whilst many (hopefully most) here are capable of fitting a pair of wiper blades, I don't think £1.99 is an excessive amount to charge for fitting. I'm damn sure a main dealer would be more expensive.

On the whole I don't think Halford prices are that bad for a large retail outlet. Sure stuff can be bought cheaper, but you are paying for the convenience of a local store.

It involves unclipping the old ones and putting the new ones on. It just clips into place...? If they fit them for free like they do sat navs then I would ^^

When I worked at a motorfactors we used to sell Bosch wipers and bulbs far cheaper than Halfords and if it wasnt a huge job we often used to fit wipers/bulbs for free.

In the rain, in a suit, on the way to an important meeting (for example)? Two quid is a bargain.

Halfords aren't the cheapest, they certainly aren't the best, but they are generally pretty convinient, which is a huge benefit sometimes.

My Mum couldn't change a set of wiper blades and neither could most of the people I work with. £2 is not very much to pay somebody to do a job you aren't capable of yourself.

So Im going to pay for them £2 for something I could do in a few seconds lol, whatever. I'd rather want to have the experience of fitting them myself so I know how to do it.

Why on earth would you pay them £2 if you can do it yourself? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever

Some cars are a major pain for replacing headlamp bulbs! When I had my 206 SW if I wanted to replace a driver side headlamp bulb I'd need to unclip the windscreen wash reservoir filler cap, unclip some electrical connectors to get room to remove the headlamp!

Replacement of headlamp bulbs shouldn't need major dissasembly of the car!

Aye, there was certain cars we wouldn't touch.
