A lot of potential in those young players. And the senior players that have left the club this summer had little to no impact for us last season anyway, Dong, Silvestre and Saha.

We definitely need a striker though. This will come back and slap us in the face if Ferguson doesn't sign someone. Even his second choice would be better than nothing. I just hope he has a second choice. I don't really like us getting players in January, little time for them to settle in, etc but if we don't sign someone within the next 48hrs, we will have to use the January transfer window.

Their net spend is estimated at £40mil.

EDIT: That list isn't complete. It's missing both Dos Santos and Modric for Spurs.

I've read that Manucho has got a work permit now to allow him to play for Utd. Can anyone confirm that? Suppose Manucho/Tevez/Rooney is better than just the last two even if Manucho is untried.

Yeah he's now got a work permit, but still recovering from a metatarsal injury, so I don't think he'll be an option until October time at least.

Certainly been read through NewsNow that he has got the permit, fergie has already stated he couldnt play due to an injury (cant remember the original source thoug)

Of course Rooney has been played out of position for most of the last two seasons - even SAF has stated this, he should know after all

it's nothing to do with 'glory hunting' whatever that is, fact is the squad has been weakened from last year yet we are told funds are available.

i'm not advocating we spend £30m on a single player but god damn we need strengthening if wenger is actually serious about challenging for the title.......the overwhelming message i get is that the arsenal board and wenger are content to let chelsea and utd dominate for another season, and there's just no chance we will have as good a season as the last with the current squad.

denilson in the middle and eboue starting on the wing against newcastle today....nuff said :(
