Have you ever won anything substantial on the vanilla National Lottery?

people say you need like 6mill to live well for life.. but i reckon with interest rates 2million lumper would get you sorted

depends - if you want a decent middle class type income then you could easily get by on 2 mill though wouldn't quite have the millionaire lifestyle tbh.... and might well get bored easily - I'd stay in work if I won 2 mill.

6 mill however is a bit more like it....

To put it in perspective - one of the directors at my place has a modest sized house in central London - tis worth about 5 million - few thousand people in the city earn over a million a year though carry on working 10 hour days - you do need a bit more than 1-2 mill if you want to retire properly at 40.

Think it just takes a bit of planning in the first few weeks. I would rather make sure I never have to work again, than paying the most expensive stuff.

You could buy 5 houses at 200k and the rent alone would be at least 1k per house a month.

At 5 grand a month (presuming they are all actually occupied every single month) it would take roughly 16 years to break even. Is it really worth it?

I don't play the lottery. For a few years now I've put three quid to one side every week instead of buying a ticket. I now have over £700 in this little kitty, which is ever increasing.

what are you on, the cash is still in the houses so you can sale. Also you have a monthly wage coming in. You don't lose the investment it's just tied up.

£1 at 1,000,000:1 odds at the bookies is a much better than the lotteries 1 in 14,000,000 chance of winning a lot less than a million.

I hate the lottery, I can't stand queueing behind idiots buying tickets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They should have dedicated shops for people to waste their money in, perhaps sell the tickets in bookmakers so it won't affect normal people doing normal shopping. Tax on the stupid indeed.

few months back i won £70ish quid (4 numbers)
it was the first 4 numbers that came out aswell, was just staring at the telly jaw dropped.
