Ford Focus Mk1 - Buying used car help !

Well i'm looking to get a Ford Focus Mk1.. mainy looking at the 1.6 engine and currently around the £4k price region. Been looking around n from the prices I'd be looking at 03/53 plate perhaps 04 if I'm lucky ! Anyways, anyone got any tips on what to look out specifically for this car of this age? Also - I would be looking to add some subtle mods just to make it look a nicer - no chav lexus lights etc.

Any suggestions/advice on all this would be appreciated!

That is a little older than you're looking at, but more worth it IMO.

Actually seems to be a fair price.. how does fuel economy compare? Was a bit wary as of insurance... seems to be only £80 extra to be insured on a 1.6 focus

not being funny but why would someone looking for a 100bhp car be interested in a 170bhp ST?

Compared to the 1.6, it's fuel econemy isnt great and it's in insurance group 15. Probably the best looking Mk1.5 focus you can buy mind

So anyone know of anything I should be checking before buying the car when I'm having a look apart from the obvious stuff?

i do around 110 miles to £25 of fuel in my focus, driving very conservatory.

thats really poor unless you sit in traffic all day?
