Coming from someone who appears to be in Hull, that really, really hurts :( :D

As for stuff to do in Newcastle.....the Metrocentre is where you take your woman for shopping so you can spend hours looking for somewhere to park and curse really poor drivers. Stick to the city centre - plenty shopping and lots of decent boozers and a metric ****ton of excellent restaurants.

Yeah, Unos is nice isn't it. :) Going to try 'starters and puds' in shakespeare street this Wednesday. Supposed to very good as well. As for things to do during the day, the Biscuit Factory (art gallery) is worth a visit. Its free entry and has some really nice work there.

You know whny those chinese people got killed? They were carrying out illegal activities themselves. I lived about 3 mins away from where they got killed but I don't care, Newcastle is safe. It's like the saying, you give what you get....:)
 
if I were killing a day in newcstle, I'd go to the biscuit factory, the laing, unos, baltic, ice cream while you walk back to newcastle and then chill all afternoon outside at Lloyds.

Good suggestions so far (most of them). Whats parking like in the centre of newcastle, near eldon square for example. Going down with a friend, might stay the night if the notion takes us.

parking isnt too bad just stay clear of the muti storeys as they are a rip off, there are plenty of small car parks that are a lot cheaper

I concur wholeheartidly! :D It wasn't long ago we were having BBQs and water fights, sitting outside, chilling till dusk and then playing frisbee at 3AM, and it being nice and warm.


Oh and yes, stay the night, the place comes alive at night, literally. You've got the gate which is like a shopping centre but filled with clubs/pubs/places of entertainment, and loads and loads of other clubs all around the city.
