1) Does anyone's mke a occasional "clicking" noise- from (I presume) the hard drive?

2) Can anyone get remote play over the internet to actually work properly? Mine keeps turning itself on at random intervals!

Cheers

:)

The only clicking noise I hear is from the Blu-ray drive seeking or parking the laser assembly when it spins down.

I have used remote play over the internet fine from multiple locations. I am assuming your ports are forwarded else you would have no connection at all. Hard to diagnose a turning off at random intervals problem without trying it from multiple locations.

Also I have never heard a clicking sound (I have a 60gb unit). I wouldn't even describe the Blu-Ray drive movement as clicking. My 360's optical drive clicks. I think it implies some sort of problem with the laser/lens pickup mechanism. It means your optical drive is on its way out I think (my 360 is over 1 yr old so can't really do nothing about this).

Maybe call Sony to be certain?

Sometimes i hear a click from the HDD area, and one or two times i've heard a tick noise coming from the BD drive. Both happen infrequently so its nothing i have ever worried about.
As for remote play I have heard of this problem before but i thought it was sorted in a patch, perhaps looking in the official PS3 forums may have a sticky.

Lol its only done it for the past 16 months! (since i changed the HDD). Its fine you just dont want me to get more trophies than you! To the OP if its causes you a problem just replace it, its not faulty but you are not happy so you should have the right to a replacement after only a week.

Pfft, thankfully the trophies will stay on your account when you get a new PS3 :) Trophies are for losers :p I WANT MY WARHHAWK RECRUITING BADGE instead. I cannot believe some people have got this 100 times over and I can't get it once!!

It's a brand new one - so was wondering if it's the toshiba hard drive they use in them now?

Doesn't sound like a problem - more so the way the hard drive stops spinning but wondering if I should bother with the hassle of getting it swapped at the shop!

If it is new swap it mate. Depends how much hassle it is for you, but you are well within your rights. My machine sits maybe 5 feet away from me and I have never heard the HDD or BD drive clicking (original 60gb drive or the upgraded one I put in few months ago).
