New Xbox 360 dashboard video

Yeah I'd heard its optional. Thats good, it does look pretty sweet though!

So what exactly is the point of having a game installed if you can't play it without the disc?
What are the advantages to having this?

Looking forward to this, the avatars look a bit camp but maybe they will change or you can change the stance or whatever.

a) Disc not spinning, most will agree the noisiest part of the 360 is the DVD drive spinning too fast in games.

b) Dirty disc read errors, probably 2nd most common error after RROD so now it only has to fully read your disc once when it installs to the HDD.

Can't think of any other obvious benefits, but I am sure there is t least 1 or 2 more that I have missed.

Could the bad video be due to the guy shooting from the hip? Its possible it was a closed demonstration.

Also, I like the look of it, Not too bothered about the avatar, But it's looking much nicer. Older one was very kiddish I felt.

I bought a 120g hdd for my 360 for £78 few weeks ago still a ripoff but i want to use the copy games to hdd feature on the new dashbord.

i think most 360 games around 7 to 9gig in size someone correct me if im wrong.

It's from the Penny Arcade Expo, which is a public event.

Just because you put a disc in doesn't mean you want to play it immediately. I could wait and put it in when I need to but it's such a basic feature that I can't understand why it was ever missed.

Also regarding the playlist 'fix' I mean when you play a playlist and then play a game it seems to only select around 100 songs from the list in which to play while in the game.

Still not 100% sure about the avatars, but now I'm really excited for the new dashboard. Definitely looks like an improvement all round.

Just got a 120Gb HDD off ebay for £60 inc postage- cheapest I've seen one anyway. Should be able to squeeze plenty of games onto it :D

Only 7GB of a DVD-ROM is usable so no games will be bigger than that. I think they gave an official example of Devil May Cry 4 which is about 4.5GB and took 10 minutes to install. There is a video on the net of someone installing Grand Theft Auto IV and that is 6.8GB

Out of a 20GB HDD, you can only use 13GB though so perhaps 2 games realistically.

I'm still on the 'do not want' side of the fence on this one. The interface looks more confusing, there are too many menus, themes are chopped in half, the list goes on.

The current blade system needs some tweaking, but at least it works :D

No it isnt, I was seconds away from getting one from Hong Kong but thought I shouldnt - are the ones from hong kong fakes or something? Whats wrong with em?

I bought one from there and it was a crappy fake, the whole thing felt cheap and it sounded like it had loose parts inside. Also the offical MS sticker looked very unoffical.

I sold it for the same price and bought an official one.

im a sucker for clean and unified interfaces and this looks very nice! im sick of seeing the pixelated guide bar on my 360 so cant wait for this new dash to be implemented
