see thread title really.

They are cheap now so was thinkin of getting one instead of a gtx280 and waiting till ati either sort their buggy drivers out or a gtx 280 drops in price.

mainly playing

bf2
cnc3 / cnc red alert 2
stalker (the one released months ago)

I was running bf2 and a mod for it which i cant remember the name of, and it ran really slowly! so not sure if it was a problem at my end or the gtx ?

The advantage i have with a gtx is im doing a lot of CAD this year for uni and i cant softmod it into a quadro card!

thanks.

Yeah, should play those games no problem at that res. The GTX is stil a very good card.
i had a GTX up untill yesterday.new games on full detail with AA using 1680by1050 i had a few games that were a bit jerky, i have just moved to a HD 4870 and all my games run smooth as butter now, and with AA enabled no slows down whatsoever, i would recommend a HD 4870 before the GTX,but the GTX is still a very good card with lots of life left in it.

8800GTX will struggle with lots of AA + vsync so get a 4850 instead as lot faster. If you do get an 8800GTX pay no more than £65-70 tops as not worth anymore and even that low price is OTT when for an extra £30 you get a much faster card which will be worth more in a few months. 8800GTX will be worth £50 tops in about 3 months. Already the market is flooded with them and as more people upgrade more used cards will be sold causing the price to drop even more.
