I just had a look at that forum and some of the post. From my analayis i can confirm they are indeed a bunch of nutters

I'd have thought the opposite, a safe and strong democracy is one where anyone can express their opinion, regardless of how silly it appears. Although I haven't read much of their forums I suppose that simply because they believe the Earth is flat doesn't automatically invalidate their other opinions, some of which may even chime with your own.

For what it matters I do think that believing the Earth is flat does make you out to be a few pennies short of a pound but I rather suspect at least some of them are on the wind up.
 
A teacher of mine (thankfully classics rather than physics!) was a member of this and it seemed like an affectation and bit of forced eccentricity rather than a serious belief on his part. This was ages ago and he is long deed.
