Ramadan Mubarak

What's this Ramadan Murbarak thing then? It's something to do with Muslims I hear. Probably some secret code word telling all Muslims to initiate mass suicide bombings across the country. Damn terrorists.

No. It's for greeting Muslims which are Fasting throughout this month.

All Muslims arn't terrorists you know.

Lol, it means Congratulations on Ramadan. Today is the first day of fast, going to be about 16 hours.

I'm thirsty :(

I've heard of the ramadan fast. Aren't muslims allowd to eat anything for a full month? Or is it they can only eat at night?

Fasting can be beneficial as i've done it before. I wouldn't recommend not drinking water though. In fact when you fast you should drink more water as it nourishes and purifies your body.

It varies slighty everday. Today the fast started from approx. 4.39am and is going to last till about 8.00pm iirc.

Thing is it gets harder every year, because the date that ramadan starts gets pushed forward by a few days. So next year the fasts will be even longer.

Well, when fasting you're not allowed to eat or drink anything.

Anyways, whats the point of your fast if you're drinknig all the time?

wasn't there something on the news where an certain office told its non muslim staff not to eat or drink in the office in front of them?

Bit crazy, although would be hard watcching other people pigging in!

Not eating food for a short time can be beneficial as i've said. Not drinking water is extremely bad as there aren't any real health benefits to depriving your body of water.

Also when you stop eating your body goes into a kind of detox mode and drinking water will flush your body of the toxins.

Well, if you're going to be a pedant, what's the point of "fasting" if you're going to eat in the evenings? :)

You get out of it what you want - as in individual. I know Muslims that do it just because, others do it because it really means something to them. I also know other Muslims that cheat and work nights and sleep during the day, and others that just eat in private so none of their family know.

Some would say what's the point of a fast at all :p

Not to tempt you or anything but i've just a gorgeous bacon, cheese and egg sandwich on farmhouse bread.

I'm also off into town in a few minutes where I'll be enjoying some more fodder.

If I was muslim i'd cheat and sleep during light hours and be awake at night (great if you don't have a job).

Couldn't bare not eating food for a period of 16 hours is it?
