*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Anyone know what the chances are of a UK purchased version working in Oz are?
I'm due to move in the next 8 weeks and don't really want to have to buy this twice if it's region/server locked.

Tempted to go D2D for this one. Bit worried about my system specs though, it struggles with Age of Conan. How do you think I'll do with:

A64 4000+ @ 3180mhz
X1900XT 512mb @ 702/810
2GB ram

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to upgrading.

I thing you will be ok. The specs required are no where near as high as that of AOC.
There is a spec requirement on the first page of this thread btw :D

I don't think you can use a UK copy in Oz unfortunately.

Thanks mate :D So has everyone who went D2D got their open beta key? Also, I applied to closed beta a long time ago - is there still a chance that I'll get into open without pre-ordering?

Nope. Need to pre-order if you want Open Beta Access.

Yes! Living 15 miles outside Dublin. I half suspect they'll still manage to give me a 300ms ping, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment

There office are in Dublin but I think there server farm is in France, though latency isn't so much of an issue in MMOs.

Played on the GOA DaoC servers for a while, and ended up going back to the US ones. I got constant lag spikes on the GOA servers, it made the game unplayable

i think at the time this issue had less to do with GOA and more to do with OpenTransit who are the French Telecomms main backbone I think?

I was under the impression that everything was controlled from ireland, servers and all. I could be wrong of course.
Either way I think it should be ok lets face it it would take a lot for it to be worse than AOC's release :p

Besides being a PvE sorta guy, I am tempted to order the game because it is looking rather good and then Vanguard and more recently AoC come to mind.... oops. My finger has been hovering on the button for the last week.

Even a few months ago while still in beta with a lot of stuff not inplace and some big bugs still remaining it was in a better way that AoC and Vanguard, even now after they have been out a while....

There's a job advert up on local job sites here for what looks like a linux admin for the whole server farm, so I assume (& hope) it's in Ireland.

It is in Ireland, as thats the whole point they moved the server farm so that occurences like servers going down over the weekend in Daoc do not occur again due to french working laws.

Actually, the servers arent in Ireland. The servers are in a new multimillion euro server farm situated just outside of Lille, in northern France.

The people actually "manning" the servers though are based in Ireland, and will be managing them remotely.

Ah ok fair enough =P must have got my wires crossed. Well hopefully since they are remotely managing them there shouldn't be any prolonged periods of downtime like the ones In Daoc.

Yeah there shouldnt be, the admins in Ireland will be working 24/7 and if anything is really severe so that they cant remotely restart the servers etc, there is also a team located in Lille who can be called on to do it their end.

* You will be able to patch the OB client to the live version
* You will be able to activate any bonus items from pre-ordering even if you miss the headstart for any reason
* Only Premium partners are selling the pre-order with Open Beta access however we'll be announcing a lot of other ways for all EU fans to get OB access over the next couple of days.

When was this announced? Do we know any more about these 'other ways' of getting into open beta?
