Absoloutely JAWDROPPING crysis map

I don't understand what's so great about this map?
It's just a map that's been overloaded with foliage (which anyone could do) and that has similar lighting to the GDC demo level. Yes I have played it btw. It's not really any more impressive than the other Crysis levels (that's not to say they were bad though).

Because it gives a look into what could be acheived with the engine. When crysis was coming out the devs were talking a lot about how moving leaves could give away your position and the enemys. In the game though that never really played that much of a factor, but in a dense jungle setting like this with enemys all around it does help and does play a factor.

That and the use of lighting and depth of field really makes the visuals stand out as they were intended, after playing through this map on max settings it makes other jungle areas in crysis look very muted and flat looking.

lol. Those screenshots are very much like the pre release Crysis 1 ones.

Nonsense.

Yes I have played the map, no it's nothing like this:

It's even worse in motion. None of the cg-like smoothness or depth of field or motion blur that was shown in that pre-release trailer.

You have to be playing on dx9 mode or something. dx10 very high the depth of field and motion blur kick in.

64 bit DX10 mode with cross-fired 4870s - I don't need somebody else telling me what looks worse or better, it looks amazing but it really does _not_ match the quality of the graphics shown in the pre-release trailer.

n/m got it working

The graphics on this map are unreal! Totally kills my system though. Will give it another try when my second GTX 280 arrives, should have been today :(

3.2Ghz C2D is gonna bottleneck 2 of those beasts!

So you have to play on DX10 Very high, thats lame :(

Wont the reason it is running super crap be because its in the editor?

Dont have to run it in the editor. Just start crysis bring down the console and type "map jungle" and hit enter. (after youve moved the jungle folder into the level directory obviously) :p

It runs slow becuase its doing an assload of depth of field and motion blur, loads of godrays and plenty of shadows and foliage.

Wonder if crytek could optimize the engine even more so something like that actually ran smooth on our rigs?

map jungle dont work for me also.

Most likely, its a user made map so bound to be things that could be done to take away some of the performance hit. He did go slightly mad with the foliage i have to say that much, if the map design was more like the dx trailer as in a bit of a clearing and stuff it wouldnt be as hard performance wise most likely.

Suppose somone could go and edit it down to remove a lot of the foliage as well to see if it helps performance?

I got like 15-20fps on this, was crap aswell, looks naff, nothing like in the crysis vid, this was using just motion blur to make it like it and the motion blur is awfull, yuk!

Thats one dense jungle :D

Runs like a three legged dog, looks like Megan Fox :p

What kinda rigs will the guy's that made the map have?

I don't actually understand the hype about that DX 10 junglefight vid, it doesn't look any different from the game?

It may not RUN like that but it looks like that
