People going to kent this september

Not too sure what you mean mate. Are you talking about which campus you're studying at (Canterbury or Medway) or which accommodation you're staying at? I can't remember being asked which "college" I'm attached to so sorry if I'm off the mark.

Out of curiosity when did you apply for accommodation?

can't quite remember, might be able to find out. Why?
You'll be in keynes college then most likely, i don't know how you find out until you get your id card at registration. Might see you at freshers week then.

thanks. I won't take it for gospel, but i was just trying to do my medical thing early, if i don't officially find out till i turn up then thats ok

I don't think I found out until I got my card either and I was in Parkwood but Eliot college!

Just curious if Kent has been feeding me ******** about the accommodation situation. Did you apply within the last couple of months or quite some time ago?

By the way look through all the stuff Kent has sent you. I have just remembered that something they sent me mentioned my college but I can't for the life of me find it now. I think mine is Eliot.

i applied pretty much as soon as i got an conditional offer through from ucas. What info are they telling you? Also, are you trying to get accommodation there at 22?

If you're worried about Parkwood being a bit crap, I certainly don't remember it being that way. People out there seemed to have as much fun as those in the (equally far away from everything else) Darwin. If anything the kitchen areas are better (as they are house shared, and not shared between 40 or so people) and the rooms seemed slightly bigger.

If you're returning from a gap year / mature student I'm pretty sure your only choice is parkwood - I think it's rare to get back into darwin/eliot/rutherford/keynes main building.

I know a few 35 year olds who got accommodation on campus. What course are you doing, if you don't mind me asking? ^ the houses in parkwood are some of the nicest if i remember rightly. It's got a good sports bar too.

Why would any being aged 22 and applying for halls be a source for confusion? Not everyone has it drilled into them that academics must start Uni at 18/19. Many undertake incredibly fulfilling gap years and benefit incredibly.

yeh, i realized this after i posted that. I'm guessing people that are coming from other uni's to do postgraduate degrees can probably get accommodation as well; so a foolish post from me as per usual :o

I applied for Darwin houses then e-mailed them to say put me in any self-catered accommodation if I can't get Darwin. From that they have allocated me a room in Eliot. Sharing a toilet and stuff in awful accommodation is bad enough but not having access to a kitchen just tops it off. I'm still thinking about leaving it for a year and applying to a different uni (I got much better grades then they asked for). I'll see..

Each court in parkwood is associated with a different college.

Eliot is the original and best of course.

Not having an en-suite is really not a problem. Kitchen(ette) in eliot and rutherford was pretty bad though. Microwave, kettle and fridge. Only breakfast included in the rent (might have changed though, this was 2004-5)

it was better before they made it in to some trendy bar / cafe with a huge pillar in the middle, doesn't really make sense for what it mostly got used for, i.e. huge rugby socials
