All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

what a crazy day lol, finally berb deal is done and finished,i am glad united has got him,and after just realizing the next three fixtures for united are Liverpool, villareal and Chelsea looks like we are gona need him lol

Everton get Fellaini in the end for 15 mill: http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/fellaini-becomes-record-signing.html

Not seen this guy in action but apparently he's a decent midfielder, anyone seen him play?

Also Robinho is a fantastic player no idea why some people here are downgrading him.

No, not heard a lot about Fellaini.

I don't think that anybody doubts the ability of Robinho; he's class. However, £34 million seems like an awful lot to spend on a player who looks slightly lightweight. I just have a feeling that he may struggle slightly to settle.

i hope he does well to be honest, but its alright having him, who in that man city team is he going to play well with!?, hes Brazilian genius coming from spanish football.

i dont think its going to work, its like tevez in west ham, but tevez has one of the highest work rates and different style, he had to fight hard, i just dont see this coming from robinho, and man city didnt have to do much at all to beat chelsea, because real madrid quite clearly said they would sell him to ANY team bar chelsea, and by the sounds of robinhos interview he hated it in madrid and wanted to leave NOW.

but thats NOW, in january transfer thats when we will see changes, but untill then i cant see it working.

The thing is although i think 34 mill is too much but we have to realise he's only 24, Brazilian international and Man City had to outweigh Chelsea's bids so they kind of had no choice.

Check the dribbling skills in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXads86_EW0

Hope he does well for City. :)

The point is that they didn't have to outweigh Chelsea's bids; they could have left him. I also hope that he does well, but there are not that many examples of big money transfers (£20 mil or more) from abroad that go that well. This is a particular problem when signing a player who is already established. If you sign a youngster you can mould him to the PL. This isnt the case with Robinho, and will prove to be much more tricky.

I am not saying that he won't succeed. I hope that he does, and he may well do. However, it is a huge risk.

contrary to what has been suggested robinho is not the only top player at man city - when you consider they have richards, dunne, johnson, swp, ben haim, zabaleta, kompany, elano, petrov, jo - all of whom are comparable to liverpool's squad in theory.

their problem is that this blends with the likes of ball and vassell.

i don't think robinho will lack top players to mix with - if anything the guarantee of every game as a starter will help him.

with the calibre of player purchased and a decent youth system (sturridge, ireland esp look good), man city really stand out above the other taken over clubs.

liverpool's saving grace is their experience and structure that shapes how teams approach the top 4 (reservation tinged with intrepidation).

hart
ben haim
richards
dunne
kompany
swp
petrov
elano
johnson
jo
robinho

is rather impressive...

It's totally ridiculous we haven't strengthened.

Getting into the Champion's League year after year is always a priority, and now it feasibly seems that four teams aren't going to consistantly and seriously compete for four places. There's five or six for four places.

gutted we couldn't sign anyone, pathetic actually .....stevie wonder can see the holes.

it's pretty obvious there is just no funds available, i don't believe for a second they couldn't find a player of higher calibre than denilson/diaby who just aren't ready to deliver week in week out right now. wenger isn't stupid but he is obviously happy to treat the supporters that way.

robinho to m.city though ...classic :p

There is money, there always has been. Every member of the board has said there is, Wenger has said there is, and it goes against every reason for moving. It's just Wenger doesn't like to spend money.

I still hope we signed someone and it just wasn't announced.

Breaking News: After going to bed early, last night, Robhino woke up this morning to find out that his money grabbing agent had signed him for manchester city, rather than to his dream move of chelsea. Robhino was reported to have said this on the matter:

"H'iiiiiiii Cannnottaaeeee believeeee whhhaaattttt that an idiiiooooot my agent iiisssssss. I whhhanted to signnnne for the blues of LONdon, not manchester. I can-not behlieve what hhheee has doonnneee."

Shortly after this, in the middle of the night, we started to hear unconfirmed reports that a 24 year old Brazilian held an easyjet flight hostage, before forcing a door open and jumping to his death. A returning British holiday maker on the flight told us this:

"He was really depressed about something and he was constantly repeating things about a '******* agent' who had sold his future away for a small profit and how he was going to rot to death in the sewage works that is eastlands, manchester."

Luckily for the other passengers, the flight crew managed to close the door and the plane landed safely.

I am still hoping for a suprise signing... I just can't believe we didn't get anyone in to fill our weak spots. Don't get me wrong Pav will be a good striker and Corluka a good defender but we need another striker and a defensive midfielder to feel the void.

Why is everyone seeing it as such a joke for Robinho to go to City? Ok, I know right at the moment they're not in the same league as the big clubs (other than maybe the wages they can offer), but they've started off like they mean it when they say they have a limitless pot. It only takes one or two big transfers to start the ball rolling, and with such resources City could go from a team where Robinho stands out a mile, to a team where Robinho is just one of many big names.

Any club within City's target should be at least concerned about a challenger to their place that potentially has no barrier as far as the money they can spend goes. Don't think I would say City are an immediate threat right now, but I think each of the top 4 should be wary of what City do in the next couple of transfer windows.

And although it is City, I do like that they bullied Chelsea out of their first big signing (after first failing to bully us out of one). :p

they're never going to come out and say money is tight, you don't believe everything you read do you???

it's fantasy to think this squad has a chance of winning anything but the carling/fa cup, wake up to reality.....considering the calibre of player we had just a few yrs ago this club is slowly losing position.

I saw Danny Fiszman say it, he wasn't lying. I don't think we are much weaker than last year and we should have won the league. I think Nasir is streets ahead of Hleb. CM is however a concern. Diaby could be a World Class CM, up there with Vieira. But he is made of Chesse and we will never see him play more that a few games at a time before he breaks.

Chelsea were a champions league and top 4/5 league side and they had trouble signing some of the real big players, whats the difference for City. They are not even that. They may have the money but they still have to convince a few more big players to join. As proved by chelsea, money isnt every thing.

Yep, he battered Liverpool on both nights in the CL games. ;)

In other news...

But the Toffees have agreed a record £12m deal for CSKA Moscow's Brazilian star Vagner Love - but he will not arrive until January as CSKA have demanded that the forward stays until the end of the Russian season. (Daily Mirror)

:D :D

We may not actually finish out of the top 10 after all. :)

But its still a joke that it has taken until the last day to get some players in and for BK to show that we actually have some money, sort of.

If this was done pre-season then we may have not lost against Blackburn and Pompy.
