the best thing is single gpu solution i have a friend runs two 4850 in cf but in windows so many problems micro stutering grid for some reason does not get any extra fps with cf on flash bug in counter strike. + with not all game support cf. i had 3870 cf before loads of problems benched it sold it.

single card solution is trouble free i say

Hey mosleypup, I've never understood the situation where one has to justify an expense to ones girlfriend? I can only assume you are as good as married and have shared finances i.e you both pool your money into a single account?

The only situation I have experienced myself which is similar was to give my first girlfriend a credit card linked to my account, boy that was the biggest msitake ever lol!

@anyone else: The Radeon HD4850 is a superb card and really all a real gamer needs, it won't be enough for the ePeenies as they can't stand to see another card beat it in benchies.

Personally for me I choose the HD4850 because its one of the best bang for bucks card going and it uses less power idle/load than a lot of other cards. My new rule of thumb is to never buy a graphics card that requires more than a single PCI-E power plug!

Can get a 8800gt 512 meg(Inno 3d one) and £70 for my Saphire 4850 does this seem a good price, thinking of a 4870 or something else.

can someone offer me advice on removing drivers of my gts 512 and what drivers to download for the ati, or just use whats provided

any help would be very much appreciated.

I used to suffer with the missus moaning at me buying PC bits all the time :rolleyes:

She's given up trying now!

whenever you upgrade pass the bits over to her (unless she already has a nice specced PC)

Recent conversation with the missus:

"Yeah, I kinda ordered a new monitor" (one in sig)
