there is no card at around 100 that competes with a 4850

So 4850 is the best bang for buck card currently in this price range.

ok ive also seen this

XFX 512Mb nVidia GeForce 9800GT XXX PCI-Express VGA Card

not sure what there like compared to the 4850 ?

4850 destroys it ;)

4850 m8, if you get anything other for around 100 you would have made a monumental mistake :p;)

haha ok ill get the 4850 :)

ive heard these card run rather hot so do you think it would be a good idea to get a aftermarket cooler ?

just had a look and theres a few different makes within the same price

the cheapest being £120 and dearest being £130

HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI

sorry to be a pain

which one ?

the 4800 series from ATi is a lot better than the 9800 series, few google searches for 4850 reviews will illustrate that for you :)

Hmm, as per the other thread, the 4850's have gone back up to what they were when I bought mine last month.

The choice for me was similar. Same original budget (before I just ignored it). I was going to get the 9600 at first. Went for a 4850. Then realised how stupid the stock cooler is that dumps as much heat as a normal cpu right into your case. And bought a water cooler for it.

Imho you cant go wrong with any of the 3870, 8800xxx, 9600 cheapest cards. You can go wrong with the 4850 by not including the cost of a better cooler (the Vortex Neo) or getting the ICE thingy brand mentioned above.

I am very happy with my HIS ICEQ 4 4850. It has never got above 60 degrees! Currently sitting at 52.
