Hi,

My MOT is due in a few weeks and i remember seeing that MOTs were £35 from National. Has anyone used them for an MOT and did it go OK without all tyres and exhaust mysteriously needing to be done for a pass :D.

Failing that i may go to the local council MOT station.

My assistant manager had to take his wife's Polo in as she'd forgotten. He was expecting to be bent over and skip the lube step. Ended up costing £35, on an N plate Polo 1.4, no failures at all.

No but got a Major Service booked with them on saturday..........anyone had services doen with them - slight hijack here :D

just finished my mot with them (nationwide) and was really impressed.

Car failed on suspension bits, i mentioned i had just had some work done and the guy took car on the ramps and showed me the differance between both sides and i could see the play on the drivers side.

I left the car with them for an hour, they already had prices for the work and a provisonal booking made. Took the car in this morning and was told it would be ready for lunch, got a phone call at 11am saying wrong part delivered but it would be ready for 4pm. Arrived there at 5:30pm and it was £20 under thier estimate (£90 instead of £110) and had a good chat with the guy about classic cars.

Really really impressed and wouldent hessitate to recommend the one i went to (Vicky road, Fenton)

i took my car to them and they failed it :( the rear fog tell tale light wasn't working and one of the steering joints at the front had "excessive play" and also gave me an advisory for rust on the chassis. Took it back the next weekend and had the steering balljoint and wishbone (all one part), rear fog switch fitted, the chassis rails undersealed to stop it rusting anymore and a retest for £100 so not too bad.

I haven't been to national but have been to farmers and kwik fit and the like but only because i knew the guy doing the mot and could trust him.

Have been to the local council mot place and have to say i wouldn't hesitate to take another car there, guys were nice, didn't make a mess of it etc.

Don't know how you guys are paying so cheap for Mot's though, at farmers it's like £53 and i only got it for £45 trade price on each car as i knew the guy, clearly i was being mugged off haha.

Lads in nationwide told me they had to pay £35 out to do an mot so £26odd was an absolute bargain

I pay £26.50 per MOT at the local independant MOT place. I take all our cars there and in 3 years and 9 MOT's I've only ever failed one - the last one I had done there. In spectacular fashion nontheless.

How long does an MOT usually take?, would i be able to leave it there and have a wonder round town or is it a case of waiting in the little waiting room they have?

I'm going to book it into National next Saturday, that will give me a week to get any bits sorted before the mot is up if it does fail. I cant see it failing but you never know.

Theres a slight problem with idle where it will rev up to 1000rpm then go back to 900rpm and keep doing this. Would this cause a fail?

If you book it online with National its £35.
