Yeah, they'll still be great, everyone knows this in their heart of hearts :D They might have forgotten how to make great albums but they still know how to play the old songs. You can't like metal and not rock out like a teenaged idiot when they play master of puppets.

Meh I've never seen the fuss with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer are much better and actually had pretty good later albums too, while still being able to play the old songs. (Except Tom Araya can't scream so good now :D)
 
i saw them years ago at milton keynes bowl, diamondhead and megadeth opened for them , superb show. i think black album had been out a year if i remember right, they were at thier peak.

but now they are old and the spirit they once had has gone.

they should quit the band and spend life with family , they are forcing it.

Well that was a surprise, I honestly thought you would say St Anger :)

And Justice is a cracking album and if you can get a copy with the bass guitar added then its even better.

street anger is a crap album the production is all wrong.
 
The new tracks have left me uninspired, and I didnt think too much of them if im honest.

However, the gospel truth that is wikipedia:

My personal favourite was Ride the Lightning.

Really hope its a good album though.

Oh and a release date of 12th September was stated by the band yesterday.
 
Some French store has supposedly started selling this today:

According to several unconfirmed Internet reports, a French record store allegedly began selling copies of the new METALLICA album "Death Magnetic" earlier today nearly two weeks ahead of the CD's scheduled September 12 worldwide release date. A couple of the fans that were lucky enough to purchase these early copies have posted pictures of what is apparently the album's final packaging.

Lars has apparently purchased the entire town whilst undercover Metallica officers search for authenticity. He's also looking into ways to stop the entire Internet until Sept 12th :p.
 
Haha yeah was just reading that a bunch of people have it now. I guess it's just a matter of time...
 
first album ive actually been excited for in a while

metallica + rick rubin should guarentee it to be decent really. hope so !
 
My top band of all time. People are so bitter about the last 3 albums and i understand why. St anger was tripe but load and reload were ok, some very good tracks but as a whole different to the previous 5. I don't see them as sell outs but as a band who has "moved on " in there lives and music too. I think this were all the hate/love comes from. If any of you made any money of your property and someone didn't pay im sure you would all open a can of law suit
As for the it a rubish band remarks- fade to black, one,master of pupets, Orion, The 4 Horsemen, Bleeding Me, Harvester Of SOrrow, whiplash, Creeping Death ..........
