The single player part is basically just a tutorial for the online part, and it's not very long.

As for whether you'd think it was worth buying, only you can answer that. I'd recommend reading as many reviews as you can to try and and answer that question but, if you want the opinions of people who've played it, then mine is as follows: -

I got it on launch and I thoroughly enjoyed it for the first couple of weeks despite the problems it had, thinking they were just MMO growing pains. Practically nothing got fixed over the following two weeks so I decided not to let my account renew after the free month. I regularly check the forums to read the patch notes and, while I'm still not convinced one bit that they're fixing the core issues, they're certainly fixing lots of little things.

You sound (no offense intended at all and I might be completely wrong

) like you're new to MMOs. Because of this, my advice would be, start with WoW, purely because its so easy to get into and pick up. If you're looking for something a bit more hardcore, then Warhammer is where it's at, and releases in just over 2 weeks (unless they've changed the date). Of course you'll probably get told to stay away from WoW for exactly the same reason - that it's very accessible, and almost "newbified". Anyway... don't get AoC whatever you do!

Age of Conan is a fantastic game, its just got so many bugs in it at the moment and the lack of endgame content its not worth playing at end game. When everything is fixed hopefully sometime next year i should expect it will pick up again.

Definately worth it for a tenner.

download Lord of the Rings Online 14 day free trial to pass the time as its probably the most polished MMo and mature community since SWG .. then buy Warhammer Online (CB was insane fun RvR) .... AoC should be left to rot in the bargain rubbish bin, damn Funcom !!!

Don't waste your money. Warhammer Online looks promising, but after AoC I'm not going to get too hyped up about it until I play it. WoW got boring, wouldn't play it again, too much grinding.

Thats unfortunately how most MMO's are now - carrot and stick gameplay with the same stuff over and over with the illusion of progression to keep you paying for as long as possible..then you get to the end and you realise it was just one huge time sink, or you carry on looking for the "best" equipment.

Darkfall will be the next MMO worth playing! Full loot, PVP anywhere, no levels (skills up to 100% with a skill cap), items won't need to be uber, most will probably be crafted by players..think Eve online in a fantasy setting with actual player skill involved (FPS style combat, spells have to be aimed, even heals)...its gonna be sweet.
