Independent shop in Brum, but they would be classed as a competitor as they sell plasmas etc. Should find out tomorrow if they are getting them in this week.

The usual high street box-shifters I tried couldn't give an actual date as the warehouses had no stock, but estimated mid next week at the earliest.

If HD sound is an absolute you'll need the 606 over the 506, which would almost certainly be better than the budget Sony but it's approx £150+ more.

The 506 doesn't support audio over HDMI, which rules it out straight away for me.

It should do, it just can't decode HD audio, but the Ps3 can decode it then send the signal.

Having owned 2 Sonys & never owned an Onkyo I would have to say...........


.....Buy the Onkyo :D. The 2nd one was OK, but the 1st one went bang twice before I sold it & last I heard it went bang a 3rd time.
