Traction Control - On or Off?

The traction control on my car has been annoying me a bit lately, particulary when trying to pull away uphill around my way and the surface is slightly damp (but not wet). I've started turning it off when it's not wet as it's a PITA.

Am I just being stupid and missing something here (I admit I can pull away a bit keenly sometimes and this is what kicks it off) - what do others do who have ARS/ESP/whatever on their cars? I'm assuming on a FWD car I should be alright in decent conditions anyway - it's not as if the rear end is going to slide out all over the place? :)

I leave it on all the time. It isn't intrusive and rarely kicks in. Even when it kicks in when you don't really need it (ie under hard acceleration on an uneven road) you cant really feel it anyway.

I'm not sure if ASR works the same as ESP, i have a feeling ASR is just like TCS and if you start to have a spin it won't do anything anyways.

Mine has EDL / TCS / ESP, the ESP is actually quite good tbh its saved me once when i hit a huge bit of standing water.

TCS is a pain but if i push the button on the dash it turns off all bar the EDL.

ESP is a higher option than ASR it seems, so I doubt they are much like each other at all. I must admit it's helped before in the wet so it's not completely useless. It can make you look a bit of a tit when accellerating quite hard from a standing start though ;)

I leave PSM on for normal driving. It doesn't interfere too much. It'll still happily let you hang the back out before it kicks in.

I leave TCS on most of the time. I normally find it kicks in if I'm turning sharply right or left from a stand still - have to e a bit "agressive" with the throttle pedal for it to kick in though.

I turn it off whenever I get to a mini roundabout and there is no one else around though :-)

I leave ESP on.
However the salesman did say that in "very slippery" conditions (I'm assuming he meant snow) you may find the want to turn it off as you could end up fighting it.

I leave mine on, I've only ever seen it kick in once anyway, and that was on a wet, muddy road when I pulled out a bit sharpish.

If yours is kicking in that often, get your tyres checked.

I personally find it intrusive and tend to have it switched off (this is only the 2nd car I've owned which has it). However if it's causing you issues and you feel better without it, then turn it off! :)

I only got 11k out of my front tyres whilst a work colleague got 18k out of his PS2s. I imagine that figure would have been even lower with ESP off.

Mine stays on all the time.
Even if I turn it off, as soon as the car goes over 20mph it turns itself back on again.
