New PC any suggestions?

I'm building a new PC, building a few bits at a time and then will add some next month.

So far I have:

Case: Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80B Aluminium Super Tower Case

Memory: I need suggestions on this want to go for 4Gb but do not know much about timings and ratings and that kinda thing.

I will be looking to overclock this PC, if you have any suggestions to improve on this or change out parts just post them, as it's been a while since I've last build a PC and I'm not too up on the current technologies.
 
Haha looks like you've just picked the most expensive components going, I think you could probably select the most expensive kit of ram yourself!
 
assuming your budget isn't an issue? What you using it for? Are you going to overclock and play games?

RAM - Again depends how much you wanna spend but something like this is pretty decent DDR3 stuff. As NathaNE says, prob 8gb on a rig like that and apparently is very overclockable. (just make sure you get a 64bit OS)

I will be using the PC mainly to play games, so overclocking would be good, budget is not so much of an issue, I haven't upgraded my pc in nearly 2 1/2 years so I've managed to get some cash together for a big upgrade. If there are any components I could swap that would give similar performance obviously I'd consider it, I wanna make sure I'm getting value for money.
 
Regarding value for money, how about:

Asus P5Q Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (£93.99)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £126.89 inc VAT

You can quite easilly overclock the CPU over 3.2GHz, but if you have your heart set on a yorkfield then I would get the Q9550 to keep costs down quite a bit!
 
I'm mainly looking to get as much high spec stuff as possible. That way I won't have to upgrade for a while as well. :p

That's cool, you may not have had problems,but Tagan has taken a dive lately, and there's no way they're as reliable or as well built as Corsair, PC P and C, or some other PSU's.
 
If price is no object, then enjoy all the new shiny bits n bobs and have a blast overclocking and gaming :)

However, if price is an issue and your looking for value for money, I would question wether or not you'll get much benefit from DDR3 on a gaming rig at this time.

The Rampage Forumla X48 is an awesome board and roughly £50 cheaper (normally £70 though however the price for the Extreme has recently gone up £30). As with the Extreme it's true x16 + x16 crossfire. However, you can get awesome performance from many other DDR2 boards at half the price of the Extreme or less.

As has been said, the Corsair 1000w modular PSU is a great buy.

The whole "future proofing" thing is tenuous, im not sure anyone has produced a game yet that can make any use of DDR3. I have been running games like Crysis, Assassins Creed and LOTRO at max settings with no problems whatsoever on an X38 board with 4 gig DDR2 RAM, GTX 280 and an overclocked Q6600.

Still getting my head round all the shiny new stuff, this is a new PC and it was 4 years since i replaced my old AGP dinosaur, but these are my opinions and observations going through the same process of acquiring a new rig.

Bottom line, build what you want to build and have fun with it :)
