hi guys

i the mo i have an old belkin 54g router and 2meg internet i am thinking i might upgrade to the 10meg in a month or 2 but not yet.

my macbook pro has a n wireless card in it so would getting an n router be worth it?

as my internet speed in only 2meg at the mo?

or wait till i upgrade to 10meg?

thanks for any help

it depends on the signal strength you currently get. I doubt you have a wireless connection less than 18mb so you will not notice any difference.

well i have a ok-good connection so even if i upgrade 2 10meg i will not see a speed increase?

using a wireless n router over my old belkin 54g??

You will see a speed increase between 2 wireless devices (assuming both support 802.11n) within range of the N router, but data sent between the wireless devices and the internet will not notice a speed increase.

Worst case scenario, you keep what you've got and discover it isn't fast enough, you can look for an 802.11n router after that.

Indeed. Just test it with a network cable and see if that's much faster than wireless. If it is, it's upgrade time (or sort out your wireless signal time).

It's unlikely that 10mbit internet would max out even a half-decent wireless connection (22mbit max throughput on a 54g connection iirc).
