O/T - Was reading an old article by Clarkson on these the other day. He rated it as the most boring car ever made.

I dont think ive ever seen one of those on the roads in the UK before.
I guess its not going to be worth much due to the size of that petrol engine OMG WTF FUEL COSTS

lol yeah people do think that, but then its offset by how reliable it is, I have had it 2 years, done 40,000 miles and NOTHING has ever broke or has ever been replaced except consumables (oil changes/tyres/filters), I guess people dont think about that though....

my next car will either be a V8 or a 2.5 twin turbo;) , its a great time to buy!

People are stupid, hence the slide in the market due to taxation and fuel. In reality it would probably cost more to service and fuel a 206 1.6HDI than it would do service (yourself) and fuel your V6 camry over average mileage.

I dont think we should be complaining that the general public is stupid, its most definatly to our advantage at the moment :p

Im starting to think though that maybe things will balance out in time, because there are a lot of second hand cars on the market at the moment due to lots of people buying new cars in the last few years, if people stop buying new cars (which they are) then the prices of second hand cars will rise in the future :(

Thats the way every market in the world works. It will become more evenly balanced than it is at the moment. The depreciation new cars are seeing right now is totally unsustainable and as you say, as new car sales fall, so will the quantity of used examples available in the future.

For the moment though..

Saw one of these today for the first time.. It was rather shabby.. Horibble wheels and dented bodywork

errr very informative

Exactly, for example, my car, a little french 1.2 clio, sure its good on petrol, but last MOT cost me £400 and the MOT the year before that cost me £600.

Not to mention when the CV joint went, when the TDC sensor failed and last weekend when the ICV borked :p

The total of all those repairs is the equivalent to a lot of petrol

Considering you can get a BMW 3 litre for silly money now, i imagine your car will be worth peanuts which means you would be better off running it into the ground.

The only S reg BMW 3 litre would be an M3, Z3M or a 530d and not really 'silly money', quite a lot more than this Camry.
