Right folks, I have come back from holiday and now after 10-15 minutes on the xbox I get the following picture and it needs a reset. Is it on it's way to 3 red rings or is something else not right?

GPU is dying. It might red ring, but more likely you will just lose video all together. If your Xbox is less than a year old, it can be fixed under warrenty. If not, you will have to pay for it.

The exact same thing happened to me back in november. I was just playing Sonic The Hedgehog (XBLA) and i got the same corruption so i turned my 360 and left it.

I turn it on the following morning and lo and behold i get the 3 RRoD:(

Long story short - Looks like it is knocking on heavens door.....

My first 360 did that on PGR3 before it died. MS replaced it with a 3 day turnaround door-to-door though.

This was a while ago now, back when they posted you the boxes themselves but I see no reason for the service to have slowed down, especially if they no longer have to post you a box and have a better replacement/repair infrastructure.

Mine did the same sometimes Ok then after a few minutes the same thing, it was like this for about a week then it 3rod,

Rang MS and got a ticket arranged for UPS to pick it up, picked it up on the Monday and had it back the following Wednesday,

Changed the DVD drive too but not sure why,

Biggest pain is finding a box to put it in and wrapping it up safe, MS ought to provide a shipping box,

This was a few weeks ago:)

Also get the UPS chap to sign he has picked it up,

If its under 12months I'd try the shop route and see if they will swop it there and then, rather than them sending it off,

My brother very recently had to return his Xbox to Microsoft, it was back in a week and a half. It's no where near as bad as it was.

However yes, if you can get the shop to replace it that would be much better. You do need to be aware though that a number of shops are using the "well we would just send it back to Microsoft anyway, so you may as well do it" routine.

Can't find the receipt but im sure it's around somewhere. Will try the shop route if I can.

If you can't find the receipt then if you bought it by credit or debit card then they should be able to track it in the shop if you provide proof via a statement - IIRC.

Changed the DVD drive too but not sure why,

I've heard that they do that to stop piracy.

Three day turnaround you sure ? any one else had this ?

Positive, it was around 2 weeks after MS admitted there was a hardware flaw with the 360 though. I prefer logitech/Dells system though as they gave me my new product first then collected the old one a week later.
