*VERY* low frames in F.E.A.R. (Vista64)

Hello,

Well, put FEAR on my pc last night, with a new installation of Vista 64, And the frames are WAY OFF! - compared to My Windows XP ((Dual Boot). XP gives me (in the F.E.A.R. TEST) 428 MAX, 161 AVG, and 79 MIN,
VISTA gives me: 30 max, 35 AVF, and 40 MIN?, (everthings maxed out on both "boots", and runs @1920 1200


Anyone understand why this happens on my Sysyem (spec below)

Intel Quad 9650 , 4 Gig Tracer RAM, TWO GTX8800's in SLI. 1920 1200 RES 177.83 drivers

Crysis actually runs more frames that this - honest

Go in "Device Manager"
Expand "Human Interface Devices"

Disable all "HID-compliant device"

How will you know the Hardware Ids ?

- Right click on the device and select "Properties"
- Switch to Details Tab
- Select Hardware Ids Property in the drop-down list """""


Well, did the job for me, (back in the "100's" now, just hope it hasn't messed anything else up - in the process. My keyboards a Logic S 510

How does the game feel, is it really that much worse or is the tester bugged?
Maybe Soft Shadows are enabled and/or V-Sync enabled?

Well I fixed it now as my post above yours stated.

However, I will say that when it was only running 35 frames, it WAS a constant 35,(like it was capped at 35 - no more no less), it was nice and smooth. Which makes me believe that a constant 35 frames is better than 100, dipping to 20, then 50, then 18 etc.

Get the same in XP with an Eclipse II USB keyboard, with it plugged it in minimum is around 64, take it out and it goes to about 76.

I'm getting constant 60fps with full AA and AF on a 2.5ghz core2duo and 4870. Using Vista x64 Home Premium here. It's probably a bug with one of the USB input devices he has. Fear is known for that.

just installed fear agian as well....how did you get 1900 x 1200...

my max setting is 1600 x 1200.... I have a 27" dell if it matters should do 1900x1200

You need to patch the game to the latest patch to get widescreen.
