OCUK Gcard prices rising - Thanks Gordon/Alistair...

but surely you already have stock in on some of the cards you have put up in price so your making even more on the ones you already had in stock,

Yes, but don't forget they have to replace the stock at some point too.

The price you're paying now has to fund the initial purchase (depending on the credit terms OCUK have with suppliers), turn a profit, pay VAT and company tax, and also to pay for the increase in price of replacement stock.

Think of it like this. The more GPU's we buy, the more tax OCUK pay, which benefits the treasury, which means the country has to borrow less, which means we get out of recession sooner.

That's right folks, buying new graphics cards is good for our economy. Buy our way out of the credit crunch!!! ;) :D

Paper money is worthless. The banks have to have the Gold and whatever else to back up what they print.

we print lies on our notes... aka "i promise to pay the bearer" .. whereas in real life the bank of england stopped exchanging money for gold long time ago.. because im sure £10 is worth far less than 10 pounds of sterling silver... but to be honest gold is as insecure aswell.. in a country where the economy completely fails, and thus paper money is worthless what will you trade your gold for?.. who would want it?...

essentially a note is a i-o-u note from the bank.. we've been trading them for so long that the banks have slowly sold all their gold, and they have nothign to give us... hmm a nice glimse of what could happen in the future there...

Ocuk have just dropped the price of the HIS HD4870 to £170.36 I believe it was around the £180 mark yesterday so thanks Ocuk thats an excellent price and I shall be buying one as soon as my money clears on the old credit card. (1 to 2 days) Especially good deal considering I dont have access to either free delivery or a 10% Disloyalty Discount :)

Crazy, I bought mine for £176 on sale (HIS 4870), then went to £182 after the sale. Then it went to £193 and now sitting at £170. I thought the prices were going to be affected because of the weakening pound . I'm glad though, even if my card has dropped a tiny little bit in value.

HI there

Yes the pound has weakened but fortunately we got a deal out of HIS for new stock which arrived yesterday which they sold to us at a loss and that stock arrived yesterday, were just passing that saving on.

Ahh, cheers for replying.

So it's a case of "Grab em while you can" before it goes up again :).

Would certainly look that way. Once these are out of stock I can see 4870's been £190-£200 again

HI there

Yes unfortunately that looks to be the case as this was a one off deal from HIS and when we paid for this stock the rate was also better, around 1.85ish...

Todays rate is 1.76 :(

This means if we were to buy more today from HIS they would cost us £1 more than were currently selling them for on the OcUK website.....

Which does indeed mean they will be back to around the £190-£200 mark when this stock runs out and possibly higher if the rate goes sub 1.75....

Guess its time to freeze purchases for me then on upgrades, was going to get a 4870 next Friday but ill leave it now.
