in the arse of england.
recently, ive been umming and arring about an upgrade, i am on socket 939 on an opty 170 and as much as i love my AMD, as an overclocker the value for money is with intel.

now i play supcom and cod4 with my kma clan and one of the guys in america wanted a new pc as he has started work for an IT seller over there and got an 80% discount on an intel 6850 as a perk. he also wanted to know about overclocking so i specked his stuff up, ordered it, gave him some tips on overclocking and such and hes all happy now.

by way of a thankyou... he packages up his Q6600, Asus board, 4 gig of DDR2 and posts them to me :confused::D.

so id say thats about the best bargain ive had and the strangest way to get it... parts arrive end of next week, cant wait to OC the quad :D

so whats yours ?

Kinda similar, I helped someone spec/OC a couple of systems and they bought me an e6300! (Back when they were £100).

Damn it, why is my advice always worthless :(

What do you mean?

I'd have to say eBay got me my bargain. A Technics SU-V660 (I think) amp and Bang & Olufsen Beovox 3800's second hand for a combined total of £140 inc. The speakers themselves were £40 inc.

Lovely kit, they just don't make equipment that lasts for 20+ years any more.

My best bargain was a Alphason glass TV/AV stand, 6 months old, list price £450 and I got it for £25 off ebay. I collected it myself and felt so bad I gave the guy an extra £15:rolleyes:

bugger all so far :(

although, i guess my awesome desk chair which came from one of those "surplused-office-furniture-shops" for £90 was a pretty good bargain.

Was browsing the bay of "e's" one evening and happened to spot a Renegade twin high mount exhaust system that would fit my bike, an Aprilia RSV Mille.

I had been watching a similar system a few days before, but it got to silly money in bids and I only kept it in my watch list for the curiosity value to see what it eventually sold for.

The system retails at approx £700-£900, depending on build spec ( steel or titanium construction ).

The one I was watching went for £450 iirc.

Anyway, spots this newly listed one, it had only been up on the bay for 2 minutes. And it was a "Buy it now" listing at £250

Had been on the bike for a total of 3 hours riding time, then the owner sold the bike with the standard kit on and removed the Renegade set up. Had been in his garage for about 3 months since and by this time he had bought a new Ducati 1098. So the exhaust was useless to him.

I dunno why, it just felt "right" so I took the plunge and clicked on the "Buy it now" button and paid for it via Paypal.

I emailed the seller and asked him if it was stainless steel or titanium. He said he could not recall what it was. No matter, still a bargain even if it was steel.

Anyway, once it arrived, I opened the box and was quite pleased ( to say the least ) that it was a titanium system, worth about £900.

Now, if the owner had listed it on eBay as an auction, he would have made at least double what I paid for it.

Guess you are just lucky to view a newly listed item on eBay before everyone else, I suppose!!!.

Hardly the bargain of the year, but its one of my most recent best 'uns!!!.

There are pics of the system fitted to my exhaust in the Motors section.

I suppose the biggest saving I've made is my Ford Mondeo Estate I bought last year.
It was £1000 below list and they put 12 months tax on as well.
My cousin saw it very quickly as he drove past a garage in Leek.

My Gibson Les Paul Standard was a bargain off Ebay.
I emailed to ask how much he really wanted but he said he'd got four of them anyway.
We arranged a price of £800 and met on a parking bay just off a slip road up the M1.
A cop car came past , saw us doing something and came back to us.
Coppers looked into the back of his boot to see whats going on and one of them was a guitarist himself.

Possibly my current amplifier, an Alchemist Kraken. It cost £1400 when new, and I bought it for £270 from someone on eBay.

Although my speakers were a better bargain- a pair of Totem Rokk that retailed at £700 which I managed to pick up for iirc £130 all-in. The seller threw in a pair of speaker cables which I didn't want, so I sold them for £80. The speakers have since cost me £150 though, as my cat at part of one of the drive units.

My best buy however, was my house. A 3 bed semi that was in need of some minor cosmetic work up for £210K for several months. I wached it tumble in price to £195K, put in an offer of £185K and sealed the deal straight away. It's a lot bigger than any of the other 3 bed semi-detatched houses we looked at too.

In my teenage years I would say 2 Girls for the price of 1 ;)

Products wise, I think my refurbed Kodak Camera was a bargain and then some.
Retails at £300+ and I picked it up at £140 & a 2GB SD card, Carry case, 4 set's of rechargable batteries + Charger.

Best bargain I ever got was the wife!!

On a serious note, I was given a brand new Thinkpad T500 Laptop 3 weeks ago for helping out install 3 servers for a distribution company.

not that great

but my Xbox 360 died, because it was the 20GB version and they didn't stock it anymore I was refunded £190 for it (they even picked it up off me using DHL free of charge)

My new Xbox 360, which has a 60GB hard drive and a quieter DVD drive, I paid £180 for :)

Also - new warranty heh!

I don't ever see decent bargains... :(
I picked up EA F1 '99-'02 for £5 a good while back, it sold for £55 + £5 postage on the bay. :D

Might need to get on bargain watch over the next while.
