Chaos at £20,000 free petrol giveaway

Wow, now that is some giveaway.

Do you think they rigged the pumps to just give £40 worth of fuel away then stop or just knock £40 off what ever thier fuel bill is?

Ridiculous idea? Surely it's just going to be a load of "olds" filling up for nothing, with no idea what Mercenaries is, and certainly no intention of buying?

"you're never too old for computer games..."

Who cares about the people actually receiving the petrol - have you any idea how much adverts in magazines/tv cost nowadays? They've just got a huge amount of media attention for £20,000 - some PR guy just saved them a shed-load of money.

Is anyone else loving the Mercenary 2 adverts on tv by the way? I think the music just makes them so funny.

hahahahahhaha :D

Complete genius from EA there, was gonna get the game anyway but now, I shall do it also, to annoy old people.

That £20,000 on free petrol meant £20,000 budget cut in graphical niceness in the actual game because it looks like a game made with playdoh.

Yes but you get to blowstuff up, find some more stuff and blow it up, then blow it up again! Just keep blowing stuff up!

Someone didn't get any free petrol :D

To be honest who didn't see this happening. Its not like people are going to turn down free fuel.

What a completely genius way of advertising something, ofcourse its got nothing to do with the actual people recieving the free petrol, its going to be the coverage from the news etc.

All those people who queued for hours for £40 are mindless idiots.

Depends how much you value your time really doesn't it. It you are worth more than £10 per hour then you are robbing yourself. If you've got nothing better to do then why not?

If they kept the engine running they are . . . . :D

Aye, I know we are in the "credit crunch" but are people really that skint to waste hours queuing up for free petrol, how many people would have had half a tank, so they are only getting £20 or less free.
