How are bethere these days for speed, relability, peak times, capping etc?

I have read a few reviews and they are a bit of a mixed bag. Some people are also saying the router they supply is a bit rubbish. Any truth in this?

What sort of speeds do you think I should expect living about 1 miles from the exchange?

Cheers.

I have had between 11 and 15 meg since the day I joined them aaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago. Had a couple of problems initially regarding pings for servers, opened a couple of webnotes and didn't take long for it to get sorted.

I live about 1.7km from the exchange so you should see similar speeds to me.

Service has been excellent for me since joining a year ago. Getting around 17 meg and haven't noticed any peak time speed capping. Outages very few and far between.

However, your right about the supplied modem. I took the advice to pick up a Sky branded Netgear 834GT cheap off an auction site and it is rock solid in comparison.

Be just won the Which? broadband survey in the September issue which was a large survey of users, O2 (basically the same service) came 3rd. The supplied router is not the greatest no, but as mentioned easily replaced.

There is no way to tell what kind of speeds you will get from one mile away as telecoms cables don't run as the crow flies.

Joined Be Broadband four months ago and am astonished at how good there are. My speeds are ten times faster than when I was with Zen, which cost me £30, for 1Meg lol. There service is excellent. I highly recommend them.

I have been with them for just over 2 months now and cannot fault the service at all. Im connected at 22mbit down and 2mbit up all for £22pm. Bargain really!

I've been with them 3 weeks now and the speeds I get are awesome compared to my last ISP which cost £5 more.

Only thing is that the pings seem to have doubled (28ms) in the last couple of weeks for me, and many others. Be* have informed us on the their forum that this is being fixed in the comming months.

Over all though, I can't fault their service. Incredible speeds and no throttling / shaping what so ever. I'd recommened them to anyone who's exchange has been enabled.

:)

They're pretty good speeds, the router is absolutely pants mind. Regularly decided to either stop the dns working or reset itself to factory settings, good fun!

Uptime: 19 days, 10:32:39
DSL Type: G.992.5 Annex M US 56
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 2,152 / 19,009

This with the supplied modem. I agree the 834GT is better, but I can't be bothered at the moment, the above is more than enough.

I was very happy with Zen before was always getting 7Mb+ out of the 8, but it was expensive and capped, Be is faster, cheaper and unlimited, so... yes.

I've just switched from Eclipse.

Eclipse: £25pm, 2-3Mbit, peak-time capped, traffic shaping.
Be: £18pm, 15-16Mbit, no capping, no traffic shaping.

The router's interface is a bit poo but it works. I couldn't really care less about it, to be honest. :)
